this game is unplayable solo

  • This game is 3 days old all I have seen so far is a bunch of children who think killing solo players and camping their boat is funny and yes once or twice maybe but 8 10 times gets a little old this will be an avoid for me unless I have friends playing. Thank god I tried it on game pass before I spent 80$. There definitely needs to be a cooldown time once you respawn so u can at least scuttle your boat and avoid getting shotgunned by 4 people.

  • @kablog you can scuttle your boat whilst on the ship of the dammed
Also random boat respawn points would be nice

  • It's not impossible like the title says just need to avoid othersbut yeah I get what you mean and the spawn time after going through the doors is back to the scale test loading speed

  • @kablog this is the one thing I actually consider greifing and I’m sorry you have to experience it. Although with practice you’ll get better at sailing and be able to decide wether people are able to approach you or not. Don’t give up man!

  • It's a shame there will be players that do my play to kill others. I met a great crew from the Netherlands earlier, really nice chaps who helped me defend my sloop after I was attacked having anchored down in the bay.

  • one of my problems with pvp is that lag just negates all damage done to anything. one second they are infron of you, bam three shots to the face with a shotgun, and the next he is inside you and onesots

  • So many people think Solo is Unplayable, I play Solo...

Solo, As it says when setting up how you wish to play, is like Hard Mode and should be seen as such, Not Unplayable.

Spawn Trapped? Scuttle or Join a new session.
    Campers? Go to another outpost.

  • @kablog I agree. The 1st day I played I had an absolute blast sailing solo. Now I can't complete a single mission now that the trolls have already taken over the game on day two. I thought the Sanctuary Island was a protected, safe area. I can't even leave the island now when a Galleon suddenly appears with a full crew and destroys everything I have. This game had some much beauty and promise. :(

  • Outpost griefing will kill this game less than a month after release. I already feel the player base dropping. Every time I've logged on I've been outpost griefed and im honestly already done with the game

  • obviously, I am exaggerating when I say it's impossible I will scuttle from the respawn boat in the future, but the fun factor is definitely missing for me so far, I had high hopes for this game I'm going to give a day or 2 but likely without friends online playing this I doubt it'll be in my regular rotation.

  • @disrespects-son don't when i first joined for a youtube recording i had spawned in the middle of the storm, and when i scuttled to respawn i got deaded by a camper :P

  • Maybe you just have to git gud?
    Seriously it's not hard l**o

  • FALSE

I just did a skull island solo and fought off 3 sloops and a Galleon all by my lonesome and it was epic.

I will say though that many of them suspected me of aim-botting but that’s where the PC advantage comes in.

But I can understand how it wouldn’t be fun if you aren’t skilled in the game.

  • i have played solo alot, i have not experienced this at all. So despite you generalizing the whole game, it is playable solo...just harder and takes more cunning and skill.

  • @kablog said in this game is unplayable solo:

Completely untrue, I solo alot. Just need to learn the ins and outs.

  • I been mostly soloing n i am not havibg problens. But read when u choose soli it tells you your journey will be more perilous..... Do what me n the other soloers do: Git Gud. I gave solo tips in guides.

  • My tip when being spawn camped ; and yes I understand you want to play the game and that's why it bothers us so either relog and hope for a better server or....Go AFK. Yeah just go make a pot of coffee, make a sandwich,go buy some beer or whatever. Occasionally come check if they are still ganking your obviously AFK character. If so....Start a load of laundry, shave, take a shower, check again. If they are still at it,call an old friend you haven't talked to in a while. Maybe do your schedule for the next week.
In the end some if let us say some 4 people are spawn camping you for 30 minutes, they will have WASTED 30 minutes of their lives. They are actually 30 minutes closer to death for basically nothing. While you, added needed fuel to your body, dealt with your personal Hygiene, retained an old friendship, and if you in those 30 minutes spent any time with a child, spouse or pet enriched the life of another. I say let them spawn camp! In the end you have one the true victory and after they get bored and move on, play the game and have fun.

  • Use my tips n u will have a bwtter time :) hope this helps:

  • It is possible solo, if you see a ship at an outpost or coming to the outpost you are at get out of there. I have spent 15-20 hours in the game and most of that was solo. So it isn't impossible it is just more challenging. It does state that solo sloops are "a more perilous adventure"

  • it doesn't matter how Gud you are and I'm not awesome I'm average at best but even if your Gud your going to lose 4 v 1 more times then you win

  • This game can be amazing solo, like a lot of the previous posts have said it’s the hardest way to play, you just have to learn to be a bit more savy. You will learn from every game but it will be hard work and players that spawn camp are nothing new, scuttle your boat and sail away from where they are, don’t give up the knowledge will come with time.

  • You can scuttle. Also if it's a 4 man crew then it's a galleon which doesn't turn as well as a sloop, try luring them to rocks and turning sharply?

  • I assure you, killing solo players IS funny. You should try it.

  • I think having a smaller ship for the solo player to roam around in would be great. Something that still requires sail adjustment, steering, compassing, etc., But a little more user friendly and having all the tools.

  • @robroythered sagte in this game is unplayable solo:

    What are you talking about?

  • Not supposed to sail alone matey

  • @kablog I have soloed many times. Just did so tonight. It is completely possible. You just need to be a bit more careful than usual.

  • If you suck at solo just join a galleon crew. Why complain on the forums for your failure. Its a pirate game, for pirating Greifing is normal and encouraged this is why rare doesn't care about your post.

  • @kablog I’m sure you’ve been informed several times in the previous 20+ posts above me, but I can assure you this game is 100% playable solo. You just can’t go toe-to-toe with a galleon. Zig zag and fire on their bow or stern from a distance if you need to fight.

  • I've spent 5-6 hours playing solo and not have I had no issues with other players. I haven't even seen other players..

Seriously, the only other time I ran into another player was at an outpost. While I was unloading my chest, he jumped on my ship and lifted the anchor. We both had a good laugh and went on our way. Outside that I've ran into nobody. Maybe some ships on the horizon. But that's it.

  • I don't find solo to be unplayable. Maybe you aren't good at solo and so you require a crew member.

Few minutes ago I was hunting down a Galleon with 4 players on whilst solo. They couldn't even take me out with their cannons, so they had to send their crew members.

I believe this is a game where you have to be aware at all times and think ahead of them. If can't do that then you're gonna struggle.

  • if i Play solo i outrun every Galleon ez. just go with the wind. if you dont want to fight you will never fight. if you got ambushed its your fault.

  • Solutions for your problems both start with S:

    1. Scuttle the ship, this is just the last resort for unfortunate spawn camping.
    2. Scout, solo playing is perfectly viable, but you just need to adhere to another mindset, solo SoT is hardcore but very rewarding.
  • I've given this game a real shot I've played 4 man and 2 man with friends but mostly played solo I leveled to almost 20 with every faction 95% solo play I stand by this post it is not unplayable but it is not the least bit enjoyable and it's not the generic repetitive "voyages" its not the lame a*s combat I don't even have a problem with playing a session and having my ship sunk while loaded with loot its a pirate game I get that but what is the point of putting in the time and get 0 rewards if I get sunk with a ship full of loot I get no rep no gold jack s**t there needs to be some base rewards once completesd with the majority of the rewards coming with turn in. I won't waste 1 more second on this game.

  • @kablog
You are not suppossed to get rewarded for losing. If ur getting sunk as much as u say then you are not trying hard enough not too
