Naming Your Ship in Sea of Thieves!

    Doesn't exist yet, at least from what I could see in the Beta. This should be a thing! Imagine the following:

    You're cruising around in your ship, then a cutscene effect similar to encountering an island happens, and it says "The Black Pearl" as you notice a ship coming up on you fast....
    Edit: Or the name could just appear on the side of the ship which would be cool too.

    This would just increase the excitement factor of PVP encounters, as well as create that Legendary Pirate feel that Rare is trying to accomplish. A ship name is something that would be worth purchasing and working towards with gold coins. Changing ship names would cost something too. This is classic pirate stuff people.

    Thoughts?

    So if you saw the plaque above the captains quarters, that’s where the name is supposed to be, there is also a plaque on the back of both ships, naming your ship has been planned in over a year ago at this point.

    @lojames22 look in the pictures of the artbook of sea of thieves on amazon :D there are ship signs which are the ones near the captains quarters with "PLACEHOLDER" on it :D
    not confirmed or anything but it is weird that this stands on it ;)

    the boat is equipped with a wooden banner to engrave a name, above the door of the captain's room

    I wonder how they will implement it, maybe a predetermined dictionary of words?? Otherwise theres going to be way too many black pearls and a joke about someones mum (if free text was available).

    Either way, the placques are in game ready for naming, maybe thatll be a chosen thing come legend whilst prior to that is randomnly generated? Hopefully not but time will tell.

    Think it is going to be otherwise that plate above the captains quarters seams a bit out of place that and in the beta it did sometimes say the voyage of the ... so im guessing its ready to be put in.

    For the time being I think it's only available to those who have reached legend status. (50 rep with all companies)

    Yeah, names should appear on the sides, and rear of the vessel!
    Of course now we are going to get names like "Booty's Callin'" and such

    I really like the Idea of naming your ship. But RARE needs to come up with something like a 'IPSNG' -> the Infinite Pirate Ship Name Generator, to prevent troll names like n-word, racist and offensive sh**. :)
