New mechanics idea

  • I know that this topic has been talked about a lot, but we should get a game changing quality of life update at some point soon.
From the update of Season 5 from where we are now able to sit in chairs, stools on the side of the ships and in other locations.
The new quality of life update would introduce new things to do while sitting or standing that doesn’t have to be an emote.
There’s plenty of people that talked about playing card games with pirates, being able to grab bottles of rum from a crate and drinking it too, read books, writing a journal, five finger fillet, drinking from your tankerd and so much more.
And for like the Captains quarters, you could sit on the bed, you could write in your logbook while sitting in The Captain’s Chair, open up the chest next to the desk, putting things in the drawer of the Captain’s Table, you could move the candle around & light it.
(P.S: we should have the option as a captain to lock the doors of our captains quarters)
    Just an idea.
I feel like for our pirate characters we should have a satchel with us sometimes to carry items like keys & parchments, and flasks.
I Would like to see Pirates visibly carrying weapons around on their body, but not in hand.
On a sidenote as well, would like to see a change in waking up in the tavern at Port Merrick in one of the beds on the second floor.
    @beckyfr0st
Will there be any talks about any quality of life updates soon???

  • None of the things you mentioned are QoL. I'm not sure you even know what that means.

QoL generally stands for something that's making the gameplay easier, smoother and/or faster.

What you're asking for is basically useless role playing stuff, not QoL.

Majority of players wouldn't waste their time on that. Maybe 10 PvE Lords stuck on Safer Seas though. And let's not forget our slimy Alliance server exploiters. That's pretty much it.

Rest of us want Rare to spend time on actual QoL stuff, bug fixing and new actual content.

(P.S: we should have the option as a captain to lock the doors of our captains quarters)

Locking doors of the cabin? You got tired of getting killed too many times on your ship so you want safer space, eh? Sad lol 😂 Also, attention seeking by tagging an employee is just peak cringe and entitled.

  • @r3vanns
all this can be done on high seas anytime, I spent most of my days just chilling on my ship at Port Merrick just listening to the sea.
It’d be nice not to just sit there and just be idle.
This stuff can be quality of life and plus Pirates did this kind of stuff whenever they weren’t sailing around back then.
Sure, you can look at it as a role-play thing thinking that it’s not really worth the time.
I would just like to see these ideas implemented.
Besides, safer seas is kind of boring when high seas is better anyway.
Honestly, if I was sitting at a table in a tavern and then let’s say three crews show up and wanna share tales or have a drink and play games and what not.
So basically, I would have more accessibility to what I’m doing while sitting down or standing. up anywhere.
how you see people that owned Captain ships to have a key for their own captains cabin as “Cringeful” shows that you lack imagination an ideas on what you could do with stuff like this where to be an update at some point.
One more thing: I don’t die a lot on my ships, now probably you do since you speak from experience from the look of it.
Besides, it would be harder for enemies to hide in there except maybe the area outside the quarters.
It can also be very useful too.

It is a RP thing not worth the time, with many other much more needed fixes and/or additions.

I would just like to see these ideas implemented.

    I bet you do 😁

Besides, safer seas is kind of boring when high seas is better anyway.

That's why you idle on Port Merrick I'm sure. Let's pretend it's in HS lol.

Honestly, if I was sitting at a table in a tavern and then let’s say three crews show up and wanna share tales or have a drink and play games and what not.

They're not lol. You're late kinda 6-7y for that.

But you know that yourself, don't you? You know very well that even if you survive the first crew while trying to RP and they for whatever reason play along, the second one would sink you and kill you. 99/100 times.

you see people that owned Captain ships to have a key for their own captains cabin as “Cringeful”

I didn't say the idea itself is cringe. What is cringe is your attention seeking by tagging Becky. As if you're owed an explanation lol.

Btw, I find it hilarious that you just 26d ago made this post and admitted the following, your words not mine:

Every time I put up an LFG for a role-play & etc to bring in players to give them an experience of adventure like they can have on the main game, which is hard to do, zero people are interested in the post Will be up for two hour with no interest.

    https://www.seaofthieves.com/community/forums/topic/184445/mindset-towards-sea-of-thieves-needs-attention

you lack imagination an ideas on what you could do with stuff like this where to be an update at some point.

It doesn't show I lack imagination, only that I'm reasonable enough to understand what is reality and what can or can't be expected.

And reality, probably a harsh one for you and the rest of RPers, is - you should play Windrose, Atlas, or other pirate RP crafting games, so you can lock your cabin doors. 😂

These are the games where you can actually run your imagination and creativity go wild (I play all of these, for that very same reason).

TL:DR - Real role playing is a niche, no matter the genre, no matter the game. You people will always be minorities, idk how you still didn't figure it out lol.

SoT community just isn't into RP, and never was. They were just more open to PvE and collaboration, and a long time ago. But not even then into real RP. Might be time for you to move on, like Hitbo and co.

  • @r3vanns
Dude, I’ve already moved on long time ago & why don’t you let me know when Windrose hits Xbox platforms & I’ll consider it.
Also, if you haven’t seen the recent video about custom seas there’s been a few top-notch players that’s got RP servers going right now.
Also, I put her name in so so she would see the idea, she ain’t gotta give an explanation right away and I don’t expect one.
I moved on from this game a long time ago, cause most of the time, whenever I host a crew, I just wanna chill, relax & do something interesting with what we got.
Sometimes I wanna bury specific loot on one of the islands somewhere, but every time I bring the idea, my crew sometimes argue with me about it & leave.
That’s the given mindset towards the game with people it being kinda uncreative and dry.
At this point, this game is just basically advertised for burnouts.
I mean there are people who have probably fried their brains to obtain golden ghost and golden bones curses.
I don’t care about it nor do I even want it. I put my time in the PVP when I needed to.
Also stuff like this could be six or seven years late, but you never know what’s around the corner.
Also, it can be a niche as an option for you.
And yeah, I noticed that that hitbo and others have moved on because the mindset toward the game is meh & yawn
And I understand that maybe some of the community is not into RP & such, but some are
& yet, Drew spoke of one guy who has a RP server going in custom seas with a lot of people & can you explain how this guy was able to pull it off?
    I don’t think so.
He might have people who are retired pirate legends, top-notch players & new players who wanna chill and relax in a custom server and trade tales.
Honestly, I don’t mind PvP, but it’s just not rewarding anymore & I fought many battles to get my curses & stepped back to relax.
Also if that’s something that happens to you 99/100 percent of the times, that’s your problem.
I’ve met plenty of other players whenever I’m sitting at a outpost who just come up and just chat with me while I’m doing nothing & do some fishing with me or talk to me about things.
Now I’m done with this conversation, so let this be the end of it.

If you're talking about mild harmless RP - it's not, cuz I gave up on it a long time ago 😅 eventually had to adapt to play SoT with a different mindset, at least on HS.

Now I’m done with this conversation, so let this be the end of it.

Fair enough. For what is worth, I hope you then manage to find your way into one of those RP Custom Sea communities you mentioned and have fun.

At the end, having fun is the only point. Whether in SoT or somewhere else. Peace.

  • I moved on from this game a long time ago

I hear this, yet I still see these players here. Make it true or keep up the lie.

introduce new things to do while sitting or standing that doesn’t have to be an emote.

Captains quarters, you could sit on the bed, you could write in your logbook while sitting in The Captain’s Chair, open up the chest next to the desk, putting things in the drawer of the Captain’s Table, you could move the candle around & light it.

Let me fish or play an instrument. They clearly have the animations to do this thanks to TT for showing them.

Besides, safer seas is kind of boring when high seas is better anyway.

Well...if we had to repeat the words what SS is really for, of course it is xD but nobody wants to see it that way.

here’s been a few top-notch players that’s got RP servers going right now.

As much how people keep talking about how wasteful custom servers are or bad seasons are. Doesn't mean it's true; Ive already see short video clips of recreations, machinima, and music videos. It doing exactly what it was made for.

Sometimes I wanna bury specific loot on one of the islands somewhere, but every time I bring the idea, my crew sometimes argue with me about it & leave.

Nobody is open-minded. I personally gave up caring and found my time to be more enjoyable. If I wanna do something special and need help. I open a Looking for group. But joining someone else ship, Im all for doing whatever the 'captain' crew wants. (unless HG)

Also stuff like this could be six or seven years late, but you never know what’s around the corner.

Like people said about Custom Servers, late as it was to be added. But it seem to be flooding YT with creative stuff.

I understand that maybe some of the community is not into RP

Game built on Rp as part of it core to play. It like GTA, yet people Rp on that since D1
