Some Feedback regarding HG

  • With the LSS experience on Live servers, I've noticed an increased amount of players around the servers. I guess it's because fights are placed on an instanced server instead of High Seas.

I hope Rare learns from this and separates the HG experience from High Seas. I think the shared world would feel a little more "shared" as people would dive for HG battles and fight in a different server, instead of filling a slot in a normal server.

I know technically it may have issues, but I think it is the best option as 99% of HG battles are active vs active instead of passive vs active.

  • 100 % agreed.

No one can seriously argue against dedicated HG instances anymore.

1 HG fight takes up a third of a server population. I sometimes even spot 2 fights, therefore 4 ships!
There is 0 purpose in third-partying HG players, on top of it being frowned upon in the community (you do you however).
No one in HG enjoys spawning next to volcanoes, ghost fleets etc.
It would also finally remove any danger of exploits using supplies or the environment.

The invasion concept was nice in theory but has no future. No one seriously uses it.
Just change some commendations and voilà.

  • No. It because majority of the players are sloops. Now that HG sloops was disabled, and some dislike LSS. They play normal.

Separating hg from hs would reduce the encounter rate again not help.
I say they make HG a week long event instead of its normal full time tool. Bring back the thrill of fights on an open world instead of using a tool to find.

  • I think it's less about server slots and more about player behavior. Right now, the hardcore PvP crowd is completely distracted by the Last Ship Standing event. Non-PvP players are just taking advantage of a rare window where they can do high-risk activities without getting swarmed by sweat lords.

What...? What are you talking about?

Not only do hourglass matches consume 1/3 of the server capacity of any given server, but the overwhelming majority of hourglass matches take place in remote areas of the map. Then, the losing crew gets merged off while the winning crew either leaves the server again or b-lines to the nearest outpost to lower and leave the server anyways.

In no world would separating hourglass from high seas yield a reduction in encounters on high seas.

Realistically, it would dramatically increase the encounter rate on high seas.

    LOL Thought so, too.

    Aye.

And the point isn't about encountering any ships. It's about crews you can actually do something with. Fight, alliance, chill, ... no point if people wanna dive out for their streak anyway, have nothing for adventure players and just wanna be left alone ...

@burnbacon Sorry, but this is completely disconnected from reality.

Ummmm are you crazy... As a daily HG player this is insane. So you want more people to be saying they are leaving the game and complaining that the daily HG community is now in adventure sinking everyone on sight. This again will make people say they want all restrictions off safer seas because they have to play against all the HG players now. Which in turn will still make high seas even more dead. This is so not the way. They do definitely need to make LSS a choice though and not force it to be played. Especially if they do add brigs and/or gally's to it and if it is not a popular thing then they can decide to leave it in game or not at that point.

  • I think HG being in the regular servers would be fine if they increased it to 10 ships per server. If there is 2 HG matches right now, you are guaranteed to have one non HG boat on the server at most. If the limit was 10 boats, then 2 HG matches on a server would still mean there is 5 other slots open aside from you. I think there is almost no downside to increasing the boat count to 10

  • @mrpalmerdixon If they increased the server limit to 10 boats and had a hard limit of 2 HG matches per server, that would leave enough slots for proper adventure play while leaving HG in adventure, where I feel it should be. The moment HG is kicked out of adventure is the moment they turn it off like they did with arena.

Anyone still mad about being 3rd partied is genuinely just bad. Last ship standing is "Oops all 3rd parties" and normal boat fights often involve more than one opponent. They can kick rocks.

Yeah I agree about volcanoes and PvE

"Exploits of supplies or the environment" is a funny way to say you are still salty about the guy you invaded at the outpost 6 times in a row who black kegged you without fail every time (It was probably me) or that you can't handle bonecallers/curseballs.

No downside ? The servers can't handle that many ships /people on one server.
Also, when there is no crew doing HG, you might not get a chance to dig up a chest before a crew is within a square :).

Max of 1 HG battle per server, move Hourglass battles that involve both crews opting for diving to a new server, that might get filled later on.

  • @lem0n-curry Oh noessss you have to fight for your loot in the pirate game. That's just the game. As it stands right now, even with no HG matches visible in a server, NO ONE contests anything. I have done the last 4 months of EVERY company emissary using purple guy vaults without being contested even a single time. 6 ships on a server isn't enough to feel any pressure. It's rare anyone is near you. The servers could handle that many ships if they dropped XB1 support I bet.

Besides current HG fights, also a server that had just an HG fight has an empty spot and a crew that might go for another HG fight as soon as they voted down/ turned in flags.
Also almost unlimited diving to simple voyages and WE and everything in between causes the emptiness.

Purple guy vaults, ah yes, The Roar - has been almost empty since years.

I play this game PvPvE, there should be a certain amount of risk of fights and losing your loot, with 10 ships on the server that risk will be too high and there won't be much chance to complete something

  • The servers could handle that many ships if they dropped XB1 support I bet.

Cant find source, but it was already said this wont change anything.

  • @potatosord

If they increased the server limit to 10 boats

Yeah, sorry. We others actually give feedback that is possible to implement. This broken game cannot handle this many boats and people who actually play it know that.

"Exploits of supplies or the environment" is a funny way to say you are still salty about the guy you invaded at the outpost 6 times in a row who black kegged you.

Way to make it a personal attack ...?
No, actually I was referring to several exploits that made your ship unsinkable in various spots (and required update after update) and supplies that were duplicated unlimitly; I personall,y do not care about getting cursed or bonecaller'd.

  • @mrpalmerdixon Unsinkable spots don't matter anymore because when the zone closes it closes away from islands so they have no choice but to leave the spot

  • @potatosord

    Dude ...

My point stands. If the mode had been seperated, devs would had not have to do this cat and mouse game with those things for such a long time. 1 simple solution vs. 6 bandaid fixes.

But thanks for not even trying to understand my arguments.
