SoT experience these days

  • Log in, set sail...Character starts randomly crouching (season 14 bug)...play for like 1-2 hours meet an aimbot cheater. For past month, almost every 2nd session.

I am not looking for some reply or answer from anyone here. Just saying what is the current state of the game on PC, UK servers (Rare's homefront)...I hope more darts or trap skins will be added...

  • Worry not! They are adding more things they claimed to be exploits for the last 7 years into the game. FoV? Added because too many people were cheating it in and they literally had no way to stop it. Quickswap? They tried to get rid of every version of it for years and now they are caving because their game is so poorly coded that they can't actually find a way to get rid of quickswap.

  • @potatosord no they are just doing what they always should've done and made weapon swaps smooth without needing to sprint cancel to achieve it

You can go super far back in sot forum and see how bad the reception was the first time they made weapon swaps super slow, I'm surprised it took this long to reach the middle ground it should've been all along but I'm glad were here

  • @captain-knyt They are compromising their vision of the game to cater to their dying playerbase. You can't deny it, Season 17 was so underwhelming, it was the first seasonal update EVER to not bump the player numbers up beyond 1.5x. Season 16 brought the player count to over double where it normally was at the time, S17 brought it up to barely 1.3x. They are trying everything to try to keep players and it's just gonna result in more players leaving because the game is worse and catering to a toxic fanbase that drives everyone away.

  • @potatosord From my point of view it's the first time they've ever listened to feedback regarding game feel during pvp, which has steadily declined over the games lifespan. In other games the gunplay is always so smooth, in sot you have to know exactly what buttons to avoid pressing and when to press the right buttons to avoid your gun jamming up. As the change was explained in the dev update, you won't need to know any tricks to avoid delays, and you won't get punished for accidentally pressing sprint 0.1 seconds early

  • @captain-knyt And in other games you have more than 5 shots... SoT isn't other games, it's SoT. They made the weapon system work a very specific way for a reason, the ONLY reason you guys are getting this update is because Rare can't beat cheaters. They know that the people who want to use these exploits and cheats will continue to do so no matter what they try to do to punish them or patch out the exploits, so instead of making their game work better, they are just giving up. SoT is officially in its death spiral.

  • @potatosord or.. maybe they are following standard procedure as in every other fps game and trying to make their gunplay feel good. Because the game feeling good is nice

I mean come on, swap speed is gonna be like 0.2 seconds less, 1 second to swap is pretty standard for games with swapping

It is literally making the game work better by having the animations always be consistent, no sprint advantages or disadvantages, it's a good change for average players and good players alike

  • Just saying what is the current state of the game on PC, UK servers (Rare's homefront

    Sounds about right.

  • I am just happy that the guy who boarded my galleon in HG with a pocket full of pre-eating pineapples can finally be killed again by one defender.

  • @trainowns Skill issue. If you can't use one weapon set, try another. Also, you could always kill someone as a solo before they can eat. Always. Weapon switching even without quickswap is faster than you can eat.

  • @potatosord you may want to look at the history of soy from the beginning. The sword has a few unintended effects that have been left in the game.

Now I would be willing to have a discussion about not QS’ing if we can go and return the sword to its original intended design…

Understand that since the beginning it was “patches and nerfs” rather than fixes
