It's a hassle to add new people to Steam friends just so you can join their game or them to join yours.
P.S.
I do not use Xbox services.
You know this game relies heavily on the functions of Xbox Social right? Even on Steam, where you can optionally use Friends Codes and Steam Invites and such, utilizing your Xbox Gamertag, the name you are displaying right now here on the forums, is how any player that plays this game can find you and invite you to their sessions!
Give it a try, ask your friends for their Xbox Gamertag and the invites will be miles easier.
@shacram by playing Sea of Thieves you DO in fact use Xbox Services.
You can invite people using the in-game option or by using the Xbox App/Game Bar.

Well, you can use Xbox Services if you want. However, I'm not using Xbox services (faulty, not working) because I am strictly PC gamer. So if you guys introduce the game on a PC you might introduce easy connection because adding every new person to Steam friends to be able to join their game or mine is lazy development.
@shacram correct me, if I'm wrong...but don’t you need an xbox/ms account to even play SoT? And isn't this also the requirement to even login to this website you are right now?
As far as I know, the answer is yes to both questions...that means, you ARE IN FACT using an xbox/ms account/service
You are partly correct.
Quote: "You can only play Sea of Thieves without Xbox Live if you are using a Windows PC. When buying the Sea of Thieves game on your Windows PC, you only need your Microsoft Account to complete the purchase. To play the Sea of Thieves on your PC, you do not have to sign in with your Xbox Live account."

So...you are using those services...what now?
You don’t need to have people on your friendlist to play with them, but then they have to invite you...no problem here and that's good the way it is...I don’t want people to join me, if I don’t know them
Random people cannot join you if you select private lobby. What I am missing in this game is lobby code. Where you type in and join the lobby from any platform you're using. No need for stupid xbox or microsoft accounts. Back in 2004 PC gaming was so much much better and nowadays everything needs a fricking account so they can track your behavior.

Sure they can, but you have to invite them
Welcome to 2022, actually this game is out since 2018...
Also back in 2004 crossplay wasn't a thing, now it is and that's why you need that account...if you don’t like that, go get a new hobby

And tracking player behaviour is bad why?
Give me a little more of a controlled environment for my PvEvP than the Wild West of old.
I think this thread has had the answers it needed to be honest.
@shacram As you wish matey :)
If you would like to start a new one please feel free to do so.
Happ sailing!
