after 50+ hours in 2 weeks, here is my feedback

  • I have to say, game is really good especially i'm a big fan of 16-17th century ships and pirates. But yeah.. The ships... Ship must fight, with cannons... When me and my crew saw a ship at the horizon, i be like ''ready the cannons, we are going to battle!!'' Then the other ship closing in and... they throw themselves instead of cannons... That's a lil bit annoying. I'm waiting on a cannon, ready to fire, and suddenly a guy behind me says ''hey, where r ya lukin''. I think, boarding ship when close should be a thing, maybe we could connect our ships with ropes and maybe slide to other ship with hanging ropes. Idk it's my opinion... And!!! I think that one is a big problem. 4 pre crews are forced to use the Galleon. My friends are new to the game and galleon is reaaally hard to control when in combat or just sailing somewhere, and plus+ they are new to the game. I cried when trying to tell them what to do. I think galleon controls should be faster, or maybe 4 guys crews should be allowed to use brigs whics is very comfortable for 4 person. But galleon looks sick ofcourse... it should be easy to control... more fun... need more fun!!! thank you for this game other things are ni i i i ce...

  • @tunovolski You forget about gameplay balance...

    ...and learning.

We need to always be mindful of the former, and your crew needs to do more of the latter - don't worry, though; they'll get there. 😉

  • @galactic-geek if you say so... but still boarding ships side to side will be good, i think...

You can board ships side to side.

SOT, for being a relatively simplistic game, has a huge learning curve... especially when going up against a competent crew.

  • Regarding people flying from cannons , well , I don't like it as well. About the galleon you must take into account she's a big structure and as such must be slower in maneuvers , nothing wrong with that imo. My only complaint is how much the lower sails obstruct the vision of helmsman.

  • @tunovolski

You just need to put some more hours in matey. Don't worry, with time it gets much easier. And the feeling is very good too, when managing and guarding your ship properly.

There's a specific sound when players/pets are shot from the cannons. When the boarder grabs a ladder there's also a specific sound. Listen closely and watch your ladders!

If the enemy ship is further away, a mermaid will spawn for the boarder approaching you. Watch carefully!

Try to always have assigned people that watch ladders when you're chasing ships.

Please read my advice above. Maybe you will find something that could help.

  • @tunovolski It is by design that the galleon is difficult to control, so we have a balance between the smallest ship, the sloop with just one player, and the galleon with four. Four players in Brigantine would make it overpowered.

Now, it's not necessary for players to launch themselves onto other ships for battle, the game is made for us to have the freedom to do what we want. Just keep an eye on the stairs and that player who threw himself will not be a problem, on the contrary, the fact that you have one less player on the enemy ship is your advantage.

  • Once...we all learned this game on a galleon because ...there were no other ships. True , the Galleon reacts slow , which , is natural for such a big ship. On the other side , you have the biggest crew and can do tasks at the same time , having fear of being boarded , arm yourself with blunderbombs , put one or two crewmates near the ladders , and let the other one fire the cannons... You've played 50 hours in two weeks , which is good , but ... We all know to really master this game ,it's ships and the many tactics to master this "simple " game , on the outside , you must just experience more hours ...

Now don't go grinding like a miner , no , learn from every playsession , because a playsession where you have learnt or experienced nothing is a lost session on experience , that does not mean , however , that you didn't had fun...

i hope that one day a psychologist would tackle this game , he/she will tell you then that this game has levels that we simply don't see on the first sight ... This may look like an arcady , simple game , but all of the Forummembers knows that there is more than meets the eye at first...

Now all that is left for me is an attempt to motivate you to learn to handle your ships and much more important , bond with your crew ,because without them , your ship is easy takings...Keep playing and you will be amazed what kind of depth this game has ... Ever tried a Tall Tale ? Now , that's what i call a treat to the Eye and Ears ...
