The boat looked really nice from a distance 🙆‍♂️🎅

But it stops sparkling when on the boat and it only showes for i dunno 10-20 meters distance not really far..

I dunno when hoarding 200k loot fully decorated boat it should slowly start glinting on every map table 🙆‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Well i have one last xmass adventure today try to gift the whole lot away 🤭

I believe those 12 days of Christmas voyages kept everyone busy and away from the Reapers Hideout. Now that it is over maybe the flow of the pirates may shift. Maybe......

I took a boat load of stuff to the table. I flashed my reapers mark on and off and got someone that was curious as to WTH was going on to come over LOL the wait would have been much longer had I not.

Normally you hear stories of people constantly being sunk or spawn killed. Stories of people getting attacked by threats as soon as they leave the outpost. It's normal to hear that the game is unplayable due to other blood thirsty pirates constantly attacking people or threats being too much for a solo player. I like how this story shows that things can go the opposite way, you just don't generally hear people complaining about "I spent hours doing my voyage and had no issues with other pirates or emergent threats. I was completely unhindered the entire time leaving me to collect a ton of treasure." Good job. I feel your pain on having to sit and wait at the hideout for others though.

That's a shame you couldn't get ride of the loot. Atleast the boat looked really nice decorated and you got some nice pictures. ^_^

Other ships may have just been busy doing their own missions. :3

Well i just see a sloop sxuttle at galleons grave so i go chexk it out..

He left all collector chests with the gifts in front of the merchant.. unable to sell them i fear 🥺🎅

And now i anchor next to a duo sloop and unload all me loot and the gifts.. they wave and toast the groc and sail away 🙆‍♂️ nothing no ally no loot stolen.. now i can put it all back on me boat..

People just dont understand🤷‍♂️

@itz-majman I believe it's all hit or miss depending on the people you find. I've come across people while searching the seas that weren't hostile, but declined my gifts and left anyway. I've sat at the reaper's hideout with a reaper's flag up only to have a ship appear, sink mine, taunt me through text chat while trying to find me, eventually give up and take my gifts with them before leaving so others can't turn them in.

On the other hand I've let people chase down my empty ship with only gifts on it while I took off in a rowboat in the other direction and eventually recieved credit for gifting those gifts hours later.

Just the simple fact that taking these gifts from someone else, weather stealing them or being gifted them, and turning them in, will actually benefit the original crew, this causes some pirates to actually choose to leave it behind or drop it in the ocean. Even when the second crew has nothing to lose and it's essentially free doubloons with no drawback, they choose to say no and would rather ruin another crews efforts by not only refusing free treasure, but in some cases, taking it and trashing it just so no one can turn it in. I get the feeling that some people just want to be backstabbing and treacherous pirates and will happily steal gifts but refuse to take offered ones.

Had zero issue giving away gifts to complete the commendation.

Gather the gifts you wanna give away and leave them on the table on Reaper's Hideout, leave a person there aswell just to make sure the gifts doesn't despawn.

Now take your ship with the leftover-crew and sail around to find someone, when you have someone in your sights try to get near them and have a pre-written message saying something around the lines of "Hello, we have a bunch of gifts over at Reaper's Hideout we would love to give to you. Feel free to come there when you are done with whatever you doing"

If that doesn't work you can always have a person on the ferry waiting for whoever dies and tell them the same thing, it's not that hard to give away free loot even if some might think it's some kind of trap.

Personally we had a reaper chest with us and left it with the gifts while my friend sailed around to find someone, didn't take that long and we found a friendly crew that was really thankful of getting all the free doubloons.

I meet like french pirates and we just cant communicate they talk like birds sing i cant make any words out of it 🤷‍♂️ or spanish.. it sounds beautifull but i dont understand.

Then i was still playing solo with all that loot on reapers hideout making it a little harder to search boats at the same time since i dunno if i leave it will just despawn on a server merge maybe 🤷‍♂️

It's funny because it feels like whenever I have something good that I actually want to turn in, that's when I'm always finding myself in aggressive servers with people that will chase you down and not stop fighting for an hour lol. In instances like this, when you want to gift things to others and are trying to find people, you can't lol. 😅🤷‍♀️

That's what I do, and it helps a lot. 👍😇🤝 The good thing is I actually use it to type quickly from my phone to say anything I want in the game. I use the swipe-to-text on my phone, so I can text really fast lol. 📱💨I can write long messages in 2 seconds, if needed. 😅 If you have the Xbox app on your phone, and connect it to your console, you are good to go. Then, when you open up the text chat window, just have the Xbox app open on your phone and it will instantly bring up a text field on your phone. You can quickly text and it will put your words directly onto the text chat in the game. You press Send on your phone, and your message appears on the screen for other Pirates. To me, it is the easiest way to communicate (if you are using text chat and not voice chat) and helps a lot when you encounter other Pirates sometimes. 🥳😊🌊☕💎🎄

Yes, you can lol. 😄👍 I think a lot of people don't realize they can do this, but it's very helpful. 😊I've been doing it for 1-2 years for everything you would type on Xbox but it's also very helpful in games like Sea of Thieves which has a text chat option in the game to communicate with other players. It's very helpful when I sometimes find myself in close range of another ship because I can quickly type something that way before anybody starts firing and it has helped in many situations lol. You can also get one of those chatpads for the controller, but for me, I find texting through my phone is much easier and faster.

I always have my phone near me when I'm playing SoT, so when I see a ship nearby, one of the first things I do is open the Xbox app on my phone so now I'm ready to quickly type anything if I need to communicate in the game chat. 🥳🤸‍♀️📱😄🎅🎈😇 If you try it and need any help or have any questions, just let me know! 🌊🤝☕🎁☃

I didnt even know i could type with this digital keys on me screen i had to look it up in settings and give it a key on the controller to open the text chat 🤭 then even better it immediately pops up on the app and i can use mh mobile lol

All the troubles it could have saved me.. 🙆‍♂️

They should put this in the maiden voyage so people know how to communicate 🤦‍♂️

I'm so happy you like it! It really does make it sooooo much better and faster to communicate in the game chat. As fast as you can text on your phone is how fast you can relay messages openly to other pirates in the game now, which is so helpful. 😄👏

It's true, I think most people on Xbox don't realize they can do this. For the longest time when I started SoT, I only used the in-game text wheel to say the messages like Ahoy!, Aye, Thanks, etc. 😅 I thought only players on PC could type personalized messages as I didn't have a USB keyboard or anything. But then I found in the game settings where you can enable the chat, and then you can assign it a key on the controller. Mine is Left on the D-Pad. So I can press Left on the D-Pad when I want to talk, it opens up the text chat window in the game, which instantly opens the text window on my phone as they are connected. I text on my phone and hit Send, and boom, it's on the screen for all pirates nearby to see! It's so handy. 📱😎👍🌊🎈😄I've mentioned it to a few of my SoT friends and they had no idea either lol.

I agree, it would be great if it were mentioned in the Maiden Voyage or somewhere in the game so new players would know. By default, this personalized in-game chat system is disabled. You have to go into it through the game settings in the Main Menu and enable it. But if you don't know the option is there, it will forever remain disabled and you will be stuck using the generic communication options in the chat wheel. Like I said, I had seen pirates saying personalized messages in the game chat before, but I thought it was only an option for players on PC for the longest time, as I was only using a controller and not a keyboard lol. 😬🙇‍♀️😅So this is very helpful for those using a controller, so you can write what you like. Good communciation helps so much in this game. 👏😄🙌🌊

Its exactly like that i have been using the chatwheel forever and thought if they type its probably pc 🤭
It should be on by default its such a quality of life improvement👍🙆‍♂️

Just last night some drunk guys joined and i quit party and use chatwheel it was so annoying 🤭

Same here, I knew it was possible to type what you want as I saw other pirates doing it from when I started the game, but I thought it must only be possible using a keyboard if you are playing on PC lol... I didn't know any better until much later (like a whole year later) when I was randomly looking in my game settings one day to see if I could adjust the brightness as it was so murky looking in The Wilds that I couldn't see that well lol. 🧐😂

I agree, it should actually be enabled by default. It makes such a huge difference! Sounds like it would have helped last night too, so you could have typed, "No more grog for you!" Lol! 😅👏👍🥳🌊

My crew and I usually chase another ship down to tell them we have gifts for them. And, if they don't comply, we board them, anchor them... repeat our request for them to come with us to the Reaper's Hideout, lol.

On the launch day of this event, we had a solo sloop that was friendly with us, but he said "No" repeatedly, when we asked him to take our gifts....
So, we killed him and began sinking his ship. When he spawned back in, he said, "Sorry!". So, we sank his ship and instructed him to board our ship and come to the Hideout with us to turn in the gifts, lol.
Sometimes, you have to be forceful to be 'generous'. :D

Also, that's incredible that you veteran xbox players didn't know about your full use of the full text options. So glad you've discovered this. Also, I had NO IDEA about using your phone to do the typing. That's awesome.
I've been a pc gamer for so long, but I recently picked up an xbox for when I travel. No more missing SoT while visiting my parents or when I'm on the road. :D

And its great just now i finished a athena and a friend joined who still needs the rep. So he types.. no headset..so im using this all the time now we can talk normal lol i used to switch equipment to the watch to say things like hurry! 🤣

Thank you, yes I had no idea that we could use the open text option on Xbox for over the first year of playing SoT lol. 😵😂🙇‍♀️👍🤭 It definitely makes it easier, especially when doing it from your phone. 😅🙌📱 That's awesome that you get to enjoy it from both PC and Xbox now!🤝😇

Did you get it working? The main thing is that you need to connect the Xbox app on your phone to your console. When you open the app, press the 3 lines in the very upper left to bring up the side-bar menu. Scroll down until you see "Console." Press that and you'll see it says "Connect to your Xbox One", so press that and it will scan for it. I think it detects it based off of the same wifi, if you have your Xbox One connected to it as well as the phone, although I'm not sure (I have both my phone and my Xbox connected to wifi when I'm at home). When it pulls up your Xbox, click that and I also click to "Connect automatically" so you don't have to keep connecting it every time you turn the Xbox app on. Now it will be connected and any time you pull up a text window on Xbox, like to write messages or comments or game chat in Sea of Thieves, just have your Xbox app open and it will open up a text field on it so you can text your comments from your phone.

I hope this helps, but if you have any more questions, just let me know! It makes it a million times easier, for sure lol. 😅👍😊🌊

I searched through Youtube, SoT support, Xbox support, and support lines from the third dimension. 👽 It felt like i had a hook hand in my skull. Then I randomly see your post and the heavens opened up and the angels sang!!!😇 I jumped on to check it out and mother of pearl by Poseiden's beard ALL HAIL THE WHALE LORD it works!!! Why is this not known by more people? Why is it not out there on the interwebs? Google you failed me but this glorious pirate tore off my eye patch and showed me the light!!!🌞 Pirate life just got better today!!!
