For everyone whom thinks kraken dosent attack solo players.

  • Ive read numerous times that the kraken only attacks galleons, this is completely a lie. i was just attacked in a brig soloing, this is super un fair to the solo player, i feel that the devs did this on purpose to troll. just a fyi to all the know it alls on the forums. good day

  • they changed it with the last content Update...

  • @jaywalkin3

    Solo pirates need commendations too!

  • @jaywalkin3 Everybody knows the kraken attacks sloops and brigantines now. It was a recent change rolled out with the last content update, Shrouded Spoils. Up until a few weeks ago, it was absolutely true that the kraken wouldn’t attack sloops. But it’s always attacked galleons and brigs, regardless of crew size.

  • @jaywalkin3
It was introduced with shrouded spoils.

  • @jaywalkin3 Tell me about it. I stopped playing for a while because of this. Today I decided to give it a whirl again. 2 hours and some chests and a Mermaid stone I head back to Daggertooth. First I get the meg which I fight off. Less than 2 minutes later the Kraken. Emptied both cannons and I still got killed. All my loot gone. This is all that happens since the Last DLC. I won't be back till Rare finally grows a brain and they realize a lot of players are solo.

  • @jaywalkin3 Yeah they changed it with the update. The thing is they made it significantly easier depending on the ship you are in when it spawns.

Sloop -- Brig -- Galleon from weakest to strongest obviously.

Now here is the thing everyone thinks you can't do the Kraken solo but you can. I've done it numerous times and its not all that hard.

You just need supplies and a cool head on your shoulders.

First and foremost lets handle when being sucked off the boat by the Kraken.

If you hear it doing the suction move, get to the bottom of the boat IMMEDIATELY. Do not think "Okay I got like 3 seconds to fire off this cannon shots and I'll get it to stop sucking me." or "I can kill this tentacle before it gets me."

The reason why people get sucked up through the boat is mostly because they were waiting too long before going under. The Kraken already grabbed you but due to lag or whatever your game hasn't registered as the Kraken sucking you. Server side you are grabbed, your screen you are fine. You are going to get pulled by through.

If and when the Kraken wraps you, don't bother slashing at it or shooting it with a gun. Shoot the head of the tentecle that will pop out either on the right side or the left side of the boat. The tentacle will be about half as high as a regular tentacle and will be right next to the boat. Hit it with a cannon. 4 to 6 shots usually does it. Don't worry about the water or the holes. Get it to unwrap first. Now be warned that when hurt the tentacle will sink before coming back up. Its dead with it lets go of the boat.

Worry about the holes in the bottom deck not the second deck with the captains table. Get like one or 2 holes here or there, but do not freak out over the holes. You can especially use the time it tries to suck you up as an opportunity to check if you have any holes on the bottom deck. The sloop itself takes forever to sink and honestly you can bucket and repair back to full even if you have every hole breached possible on your boat.

What if a skeleton ship spawns or a meg spawns. DO NOT FIGHT EITHER. Pay attention the the Kraken. The Meg will attack the Kraken tentacles if left completely alone so again DO NOT ATTACK IT. The skeleton ship will also attack the Kraken, it might take a shot at you a few times but it will mostly focus on the Kraken if left alone.

Keep the ship moving even if you need the commendation. If the ship is stationary the Kraken will try to wrap the boat even more often and try to suck you up even more frequently. Even if you are the edge of the ink you will still get credit for killing it.

Always focus your cannon shots to the tentacles next to the boat, on the right or left side, not the ones on front or behind. Don't worry about the ones relatively away from the boat. If you run into the Kraken you will know which tentacles I mean as close.

As long as you have supplies you can either (A) just run away completely or (B) if you want to you can kill it. Just don't freak out over every little hole. If I ever run into it solo again, I'll record what to do and post it up for everyone.

Any other questions you might have just ask and I'll let you know.

  • @jaywalkin3 i run solo sloop and I feel like I get targeted by the kracken/Meg/Ghost ships WAY more than on a galleon

  • @jaywalkin3 doubt they did it to troll though lol

  • I have encpuntered kraken many times as a solo slooper and its easy to take down even if it grabs ya.
Can't understand how you can fail with it on a sloop EVEN SOLO, it's even to easy. :0
But yea, soloing a brig or a galleon would be hell as the kraken is harder to kill there, go for the sloop or get friends to play with mate ^^

  • Ill add I was in a solo sloop and was attacked by the kraken. I barely made it away to. It was hard trying to drive, then slice up/shoot one of his tentacles blocking me from going down below to repair (on the sloop when he grabs ypur ship its right whre the stairs are).

Only reason I survived is there was a nearby island and I crashed my ship ahsore and repaired it while the kraken waited for me off shore. After repaired i sailed my ship around the island (as close as the island as I could be without running into the shore again) and took off in the other direction.

Never seen the kraken again but it does indeed attack solo sloop players. If I was far off from any island im sure I would have lost my ship, luckily though like I said an island was right there and I used that too escape.
