Does anyone else think that the statues should be removed from the game? They seem to just be a waste of resources.

With events being time limited the statues (and highchairs) are rather pointless if the commendations and any specific cosmetic are no longer available.
The resources could be put to better use.Having said that, the game is still lacking in content so we wouldn't really want to see anything removed.
As it is, five months since launch, we really haven't got much in the way of new usable content and certainly none to spare.Then when you think of new comers to the game, what's in it for them except reminders of what once was?
To date, leaving these items in game with their respective events closed is pointless.
Either remove the time cap of events or remove the items. Keeping them as useless reminders aren't doing anyone any favours.The statues and the thrones need at least a cosmetic or boost value reason for people to do them for those that missed them from the event.
i.e the mermaids should be at least dropping orbs that based on the color determines the value and could be handed into the order of souls npc's, thus giving another way to work on your reputation with them, where as the thrones could at least have a variant of cosmetics that everyone can get when they have them completed just like when they commendation locked some of the event gear in the duke store but have it apply to most if not all commendations to provide more visual progression and incentives to complete them other than for the sake of it and titles that you may or may not use.
As for those that have already completed all of them once they add the cosmetic variations all we would need to do is just re-trigger them to unlock them if they don't do so retroactively.
@mrlemm I don't think any content should be removed and instead be expanded on. More ways to interact with the thrones and mermaids will give them more purpose.
I believe Rare plans to give the mermaid statues more substance in the future. What they have in mind, exactly, is anybody's guess. Since I've completed all my commendations with them, I find them simply annoying. If one is near where I'm trying to do a voyage, I'll usually destroy it just to shut the infernal thing up.
@mrlemm or at least give us something for going there again... A simple random artifact maybe..

@nunoazuldimeter this is with every event, its just useless to do old content, but you still receive the commendatations, i was missing 4 satatues for the 💯 after the event ended. Even after the event ended i received the commendatations. Rare has to do something about time limit events, it just Kills the game for new people and old people that would like to do this events again.
@margrave-xii not exactly, the THD Meg turned into several worldwide AI threath.
the gunpowder skeleton turned into easy method to gain gunpowder or to help us out with Waves of skeletons, also a dangerous threath.
The cursed sail ships will turn into a fort like raid with loot and the cursed Cannonballs will be used by us.The only useless content are the thrones and this mermaids, it gives nothing to the game and to players already made the commendations.
Rare could give it a little more interactive option.
Why would me, you or someone already with the commendations still looking for sit in thrones or engaging on static rocks that takes health.@nunoazuldimeter mermaids could be usefull if the curse Cannon balls could be Crafter, they could use the statues for players to gather essence to create this balls.

Exactly. While newcomers won't be able to get the dubloons or cosmetics, they can still complete the quests to get the commendations and the titles.

That statement doesn't even make sense. Aside from the fact that they are still used to Commendations and Titles, they are already made and plugged into the game, what would removing them even accomplish?
I love that the mermaid statues as well as Thrones are still in the game and for newcomers it's still interesting to search and explore the seas to find them! I completed the event during that time, but I have friends all the time coming to this game as newbies and they have not completed the commendations which they do want to unlock so they do have a purpose.
Just because the people commenting here Unlocked all the commendations and received the doubloons doesn't mean newcomers to the game don't want to try to find the statues as well and it doesn't matter that you don't receive the doubloons anymore because it still is fun exploring the seas finding the statues. Many players still enjoy trying to unlock all the commendations along with getting Titles to them.
I just played with a new crew the other day that was doing the mermaid statues. So, they still do have a purpose and just because you are not new to the game doesn't mean Rare doesn't have new players coming to this game all the time and with that reason still gives Mermaid statues a purpose to explore and find them.
They will remain in the game and thank you Rare for doing that because if you listen to these players hating on the Mermaid statues then we have a game made for a bunch of entitled people that don't think about others playing right now enjoying the search for these statues. Some veteran gamers as well as newcomers still want to explore finding these statues and just because you don't want to search for them anymore doesn't mean all the other players feel your way.
I see many selfish comments here only thinking about yourself and since you completed the event you think they should be removed, but you clearly haven't thought of other players that still want to unlock the commendations. I see wanting to unlock all the commendations the same as compared to people that want to unlock all the Xbox achievements in a particular game. Unlocking all the commendations is an acomplishment to a lot of players and that is very satisfying to have them all complete, but if the statues were removed then how can those players or new players unlock those commendations??
Gamers that want Mermaid statues and Thrones removed are just selfish If you think about it! You get to unlock the commendations, but don't care about others that want to unlock them as well. It's already stated they won't get the doubloons or timed cosmetics, but why take away the chance to unlock the commendations as well? That makes no sense when Rare made it clear that commendations can still be unlocked after these events are over and only doubloons as well as the timed cosmetics will not remain which is the best solution. So, thank you again Rare for keeping Mermaid statues and Thrones in the game!
The statues, thrones, etc. need to stay, but given more substance and a worthy reward. Their idea was cool and with lack of content and substance in the game appreciated. However, what came was a bit short lived and dull. What is left is wasted. Even meg now is pointless and more a nuisance than good game play.
There is so much potential in this game. There is an opportunity for good storytelling and lots of fun. Added content needs to last and remain meaningful beyond when it drops. Having a timed launch event is fine, but the game needs to grow and become full of options. Even if events begin to cycle like the “month of the bilge rat”, “month of the hungering shark”, or by cycling moons such as rat moon, shark moon etc. things would be way better than just leaving bits and pieces with no good purpose behind.
I personally don’t want to see them removed I think they should just be given a better use or more incentive to actually go out and do them. Same as the Skelton thrones.

@mrlemm What they need to do is increase the loot spawn rate around them - or make the loot closer to the mermaid. They're supposed to spawn loot - and do... but, I rarely find anything... so, it feels like it's not worth even bothering.
