Youtubers who play should get content earlier

  • So its obvious isnt it? Some people will get bored and stop playing before the next content update since theres nothing new to do therefore youtubers who play sea of thieves like zylbrad should get content early so people dont get bored and wander away from the game

  • @cheeryhorizon16 Why? If people cant be patient and wait for content like the rest of them thats there problem. If you are a fan of the game and support it you will wait like everyone else. Screw bribery.. just my opinion anyway.

  • I fail to see how random people on youtube getting content early keeps other people playing.

  • @cheeryhorizon16 People have got bored and stopped playing becuase the game sucks, nothing anyone on youtube will be able to do to stop it, the youtubers will stop making videos or move on to another game soon anyway like most already have

  • @cheeryhorizon16 I use YouTube...should I get content early?

    The answer is no.

I paid the same money as anyone else (regional prices excluded) so get what is released as and when it is released.

No reason any wannabe should get any special treatment.

  • Its a NO for me...
why would they give it to ANYONE early instead of just releasing it for everyone at the same time..
who watches people on youtube play a game anyway..

  • They could get bored of it before they even play it if it's all over youtube.

  • This is a joke...right?

    1. How on earth are you gonna roll out content earlier for a specific group of people, without making private servers with the content?

    2. Youtuber's/Streamers should play the game because they enjoy it. If they don't, they should move on. I've been a variety streamer for about a year and now pretty much exclusively stream this game because I love it. Once I get bored of it I'll move on. I don't need special treatment, nor does any other content creator imo. If rare decides to hook up some of the bigger content creators thats awesome, but it doesn't "need" to happen in order for people to keep creating content.

  • @cheeryhorizon16 No.

  • Ehhh- it’s good business to utilize your bigger community members for media coverage, especially with big expansive updates before they release.

I do think that for one, it should be Rare’s decision solely and not ours to request- and two that content-creators and community members expecting special treatment isn’t really a good thing.

  • SIDENOTE:
EVERYBODY these days is a 'YouTuber' or 'Streamer'...how do you choose who gets undeserved stuff early?

  • @cheeryhorizon16
    No way.

  • @cheeryhorizon16 No, not at all.
If the audience of YouTube streamers get bored with the lack of content or progression in the game then so be it.
They are seeing it for what it really is. Although most videos are edited to exclude the mind numbing parts and anything else off-putting.

I think it was bad enough that Rare promoted it via videos of a friendly office crew made up of employees all wearing rose coloured glasses.

Yeah sure, it's all fun from start to end without any griefing, aggressiveness or foul language and no boring bits or repetitive voyages screaming out for more content. Yeah right. :/

  • Wait so u wanna watch someone else play just to get you hyped? As he spoils all the content before you even get to try it?

Quite literally millions and millions of people. How is that even a question? I'm literally watching Markilpier play Welcome to the Game as I write this.

I agree though, youtubers shouldnt get early updates when they could just release it for everyone. Not to mention they'd have to have a whole separate set of servers and the ones we have are bad enough.

it was meant as a bit of sarcasm... but yeah the answer is still no

You find people with established channels, professional attitudes, and good communities.

There is a difference between people who stream as a hobby and people who do it professionally.

  • @iduskk the ones that do it 'professionally' are even less inclined to care about the game.

They are paid by the viewer numbers. They will milk any exclusive they can get and then move on to the next thing that looks like it might make them a buck or 2.

Personally, I would be honest....but do you think someone who gets paid to play games and gets exclusive pre-access because of it would give you a 100% unbiased opinion?

Yet who's opinion somehow carries more weight?

'Streamers' aren't doing it out of the goodness of their heart or as some altruistic or philanthropic act....they do it for the money and attention. Therefore you won't get an unbiased account.

Not every creator is the same. Plenty of people do it for money and will lie and cheat their way to success. But there are plenty full time creators who will give you an unbiased opinion. Look what happened to Videogamedunkey for example. Microsoft paid him to make a video promoting a game. He gave an honest opinion that the game sucked, and microsoft canceled the deal and didn't pay him. He could have lied and kept the money, but he didn't. You can't paint a broad brush on all creators like that, you just have to use your judgement and decide whos opinions you respect and trust, and who's you don't.

But lets be honest, anyone streaming SoT full time probably likes the game. Its definitely not a game you play for views.

  • @shuoink said in Youtubers who play should get content earlier:

I know you are sarcastic, but who watches people play sports on TV? Same thing!

  • @iduskk I have no idea what a 'Videogamedunkey' is but certainly wouldn't trust anything it said.

The only opinion that should matter to anyone is their own.

No one can tell you (not specifically you) whether you like something or not.

My overall point is people on YouTube/Twitch/Mixer or whatever else are no different to anyone else, aside from maybe being lucky, so shouldn't get any special treatment.

  • @triheadedmonkey You really should watch Videogamedunkey, he’s super funny.

But yeah this whole proposition is dumb.

However looking to others viewpoints and opinions is a good way to better strengthen and formulate your own. You may have an opinion but then hear a much more thought-out educated opinion on something and either realize you were wrong or at least better understand why you feel the way you do about something.

If I had it my way Youtube would offer no monetized incentive to provide content.

If I had it my way twitch gamer types would enjoy the social value of their channels, but otherwise rot.

    I'm not jealous.

    I just think it's stupid.

Sadly, proof is in the pudding. These players and content provider and their audiences are of value to game development and advertisement.

    But....

They should be otherwise ignored, and provided absolutely nothing more than the average customer.

Its extremely ignorant to assume a successful streamer is just "Lucky" you clearly don't understand the work and sacrifices that go into growing a channel.

And nobody is saying you should just blindly take the opinions of creators and say "well thats what I believe now" of course the only opinion that matters is your own. But nothing wrong with hearing the opinions of others who you trust, especially if those opinions are different then yours.

  • @danish-crusader Now see if you were a self important [mod edited] you'd understand his point

  • @iduskk I'd be extremely happy to play video games in exchange for money...some might say 'I should be so lucky'....

Sitting on a couch or to a desk is not work if it is doing something you enjoy or would otherwise do anyway.

Growing a channel is just a matter of joining a network and 'playing the game' of "you kiss my butt I'll kiss yours."

Granted, not everyone will have the personality or ability to be entertaining as well as play and give decent feedback, but that doesn't mean they should be trusted above all else, up to and including, your own opinion.

I take serious umbrage at being called ignorant. If any of the current 'streamers' were to launch today (completely unknown and from scratch) how many would 'make it'?

It is all luck. There is no skill involved. The only actual 'work' involved is butt kissing and playing video games.....Sign me up!

EDIT: I also appreciate the irony of me giving advice to not take advice from random people on the internet..

  • @cheeryhorizon16 How is it going to work ? are they going to play on other servers ?
thats not a good idea and there is no reason for that..

Well if its so easy, and you think its such a good deal, why not you do it? Its free to get started and you dont even need any special equipment, you can stream right from the console. No excuse not to, but you'd never make it with your attitude.

Streaming isn't just "Playing games" People watch streams for entertainment. Gaming is just the medium used to entertain. Because gaming is a social activity. Nobody is going to watch you if all your doing is playing a game. You have to be engaging the audience, cracking jokes, or be insanely good at the game. You have to provide some kind of entertainment value, otherwise people are just going to move on to the next stream.

You're extremely ignorant, and come off as someone who has tried streaming, and had no success and are just bitter. Idk if thats the case, but it sure sounds like it.

  • Hypothetical, but lets say Rare's new content isn't too hot or comes out with a "more to come soon" and isn't complete? Possible considering most of what I am reading about peoples feelings towards the games release already lacking content. What do you think will happen to the community if that's shown any earlier than it's release date?

  • @cheeryhorizon16 Absolutely not.

  • @iduskk because I play games to enjoy them...not entertain others.

I don't crave attention and validation from 3 people watching me play a game.

I have all the equipment and knowledge I need but no desire to 'prove' I am more important than I really am to random strangers.

At the end of the day (and back to the point of the thread if that's ok?), people who stream deserve no special treatment or exclusives due to the fact that they aren't special.

For what it is worth I have streamed a few times to show family/friends SoT.

There is no way I would ever consider doing it more than that as I couldn't give the furry crack of a rats behind what random people think. No bitterness, just random opinions mean nothing to me, as they should to anyone.

What for a content ? There is no content ! That's why youtubers makes videos to show us one new sail (that isn't into the game right now .. but it will be into the future) in a 5 minutes (but boring because of the lack on informations and content) you tube video .

Did you realy think that players wouldn't stop to play the game (because of the lack on content) if youtubers get some content earlier as everyone else ?

Only the release of more content for all and that's asap can hold the players. As example : The hungering deep ? Release is in the middle of may ? That's too late ! Release it now ! Today or tomorrow ! We should have the "hungering deep" content already as beginner event or starter event.

The whole RARE road map is a problem...

Many players won't wait 3 months more until the game gets more content.. they didn't have to do so anyways since there are many other games around.

Any other games didn't have these problems because they are full of enough content from a start. And if these games get more content after 3 months .. then this will be ok , since no one have to miss more and enough content there so badly and desperately like how we have to miss it in SoT.

We still have to wait 2 or 3 months more to get our own personal parrot or monkey companion and to get a new sail or new clothes ... the fiddle and the drum ? No matter that the most of these things was already into the alpha version of the game ? So into 2 month more we get all the stuff back that already exist and was usable into the alpha version of this game ? We get it back because it was taken out of the finished full price game ? Why was it taken out ?? Maybe because of balance problems because the fiddle made more damage then the blunderbuss and to use a drum was a instant kill ;) rofl

big sigh...Finaly..... yes finaly we get the stuff back but 3 months after the release of the game ? a bigger sigh ....WHAT ???? Are you sirious ??? roll eyes .... Even if a youtuber would get all the stuff earlier....it wouldn't matter .

Drip feed content is boring and lame in GTA 5 Online.... but i desperatly miss those drip feed content here in SoT so badly .... everything is better than nothing .

RARE please release every week one new item ... today the fiddle .. next week the drum....every week one new trouser or hat .... until the big content update starts.
