Yea I know it's mostly unpopular among competitive players, but I personally like motion blur when decently implemented.

Shame Reshade is against ToS, otherwise I'd be using it specifically for motion blur, to smooth things out a bit.

Speaking of blur, I also wouldn't mind a decent depth of field effect. If you're playing on SS it would be great for immersion, if you like it that is.

Other than that, it would be a great addition for screenshots inside of the game (though that may come when they introduce cinematic camera with Private Servers).

PS. there is a way of achieving similar effect of motion blurring, though at a cost of sacrificing FPS and latency (and maybe some image artifacts) - Frame Generation.

X2 or X3 on Lossless Scaling app, or Nvidia/AMD built-in driver FG.

You can always lock FPS, and depending on your monitor refresh rate, double or tripple it - or in case of LS, adaptive FG which allows you to lock to any FPS without issues, because you can input max cap of generated frames. LS will do the rest.

For example, I'm playing on a 180hz monitor so I locked my FPS at 90, and doubled it with Lossless scaling. Camera motion looks smoother (due to slight image "loss" caused by FG lol), than when I play on native 180 FPS.

Feel free to try it, as that is not against ToS (Lossless Scaling is not an injector, like Reshade, but simple monitor frame interpolation), or as I mentioned Nvidia/AMD FG that come with drivers (if you have a GPU that supports it, that is).

You may like it, or may find FG artifacts annoying (that's also a trade-off from using FG). The higher the base frame rate, the smaller the amount of FG artifacts are noticed (usually in a form of ghosting around characters).

Luckily, SoT is a first person game. And from my own experience, I didn't see ghosting even around other players running around me.

Yeah - some sort of depth of field would be cool!

  • I personally can't stand motion blur, so as a PC player I would turn it off. I just hope they would also give console players the option to turn it off.

  • @potatosord It should be a toggable setting yeah, like the blur with the ghost chests
