Saying Goodbye to The Arena

I was expecting a new design but I guess I should lower my expectations...

Its a shame if new pirates come to the game after march 10th, got a achievement but the arena one because they can't get it at all, will there be double xp for arena ranks between now and the 10th so people can get to rank 50?

I am super angry about the "cutoff" point.
TBH. We would all be at Arena 50 if not for the last 2 years the matchmaking especially in galleon arena was so broken, that you couldn't get a match in 30 minutes.
And messaging in the actual announcement was flawed and so a lot of us pushed for the lvl 50 with actual pain (literal pain see here https://twitter.com/SkolDuggary/status/1492785648985534467 . THis crewmember of ours did this because he is fan of dogs and was aiming for the good boy. It was not until last week that we saw the FAQ. Because why would we? The announcements were worded not clearly. So he pushed himself to somewhere that was not really good just to get this). It's sad really and several of the goals were designed for a vast amount of matches that were hardly reachable with regular gaming and without TDM-Stuff if you consider the match-making issues.

This new weapon set is literally a "congrats, your work is now worth nothing" letter to all the people who have the original set. I mean... really? All you could do is repaint not even the whole, but just one part of this set? I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but this is just lame.
The only way you can fix this mistake is to put this behind a commendation asking you to sink 500-1000 ships as a PL, or smth like that.
But a better solution would be to recolor all the other parts, maybe except the purple as that's the main legendary color

I feel like disabling Arena was enough of a kick in the stomach.

But you guys obviously disagree. Ouch.

I understand that bugfixing the Arena costs time / resources / money that might be better spent elsewhere.
I understand the business perspective.
I understand that recoloring is way less effort than designing a whole new weapon set.

But for me personally it feels wrong.
At least the "new" weapons look worse now than the OG set. Still a recolor and that feels pretty disrespectful towards the OGs.

@tcl-stordyr Its like you didn't read the whole thing. The whole point of people complaining was because they weren't getting the good boy set because it was closed off on Jan 27th. It was not an achievement, but a gift for those pirates who ACTUALLY played arena and suffered through all the bugs but played it cause we loved it . They knew what would happen if they gave time for people to grind for it, alliance arenas where they don't even play but just take turns getting wins. They cheese the game mode to get a cosmetic they only want to say they have it. They didn't spend years in arena which is why arena was going away. The two percent got a present because despite our love for arena, it wasn't business savvy to keep it around. So you anger about your grind is on you my dude because it was said over and over again the cut off was the day they announced the arenas demise.

Bad matchmaking over the last 2 years is a bad excuse. They haven't been bad that long, if you cared like the pirates who are SD 50, that wouldn't have stopped you. Plus, sloop arena has had great matchmaking for over a year in my opinion. I haven't done a lot of galleon arena in the past year so I can't really speak to that, even if my experience has been good.
The announcement was not flawed; you hadn't really read it. It literally said that the cutoff for those rewards was January 27th, the day of the announcement. Where did your friend get March 6th? The preview doesn't talk about these rewards, so your friend must have read the forums, I guess just not entirely. Not Rare's fault.

I agree with @GrumpyW01f that the silver and gold should be flipped, as that would be a huge palette change and create a striking difference between the two weapons. I doubt people would want the full recolor to just be what we already have, but green (silver looks better than gold imo)

The new legendary weapons seem to me to just be "You can have the LSD weapons, but they are slightly different!" I was hoping to grind for the new weapons. With a color swap like the silver, they'd be something different, but as is I don't think there's much point for someone who has the LSD weapons to get the Legendary Fortune weapons (besides completionism).

Apparently the new PL set has black chains instead of golden ones?

i think you misunderstood my post, and yeah i played arena,I achieved the have the legendary weapons and every commendation in arena there is to get . My worries are not that the game will die, but I am just worried about the toxicity in arena which will be present in adventure mode more or less, because in my arena grind i faced a lot of it. And with a lot of new players in SoT i just hope that they don't face with these players and start to loose fun.

Are those really new pirate legend weapons? Just black changed to green? Is this how you show respect to people who have been grinding 240wins just for skins? And you just replace 1 color with another and call it ,,new pirate legend weapon set,, ?!?!?!??!

Don't forget this is a pirate game, which makes Rare the original pirates...

They too will look for the most efficient/easiest way to accomplish their tasks.

The new legendary weapons look... way too same-y. From a black purple to a metallic dark green... It's not going to distinguish very much. I'd flip the silver and gold, but that's just me.
I suppose if the new legendary weapons are tied to a hard commendation, it's not a big deal. (My commendation idea is a different weapon for every legendary meg kill commendation except the Ghost)]

I feel like all meg kills is a bit much for these weapons mainly because one of the goals with making a new set is so they are more accessible to all PLs. I believe the stronghold loot commendations would be more fitting, for example, selling 100 Stronghold Chests to the Gold hoarder as a pirate legend will unlock 1 of the 4 weapons, and with bonedust, skulls, etc. On a different note, the old LSD weapons fit the PL color scheme better than the actual PL weapons that are on the way. Personally I would rather get the new color scheme for completing LSD before March 10th and the old LSD weapons remain part of the actual PL set.

Player interaction and combat. Those are the two things that make this game worth playing despite bugs, the two things that attract the most viewers to the game, and most important, keeping players playing daily. Removing Arena takes away the ability to get right into action and combat, and making the only option hopping servers to find inexperienced players who simply run away. That gets boring quick for pvp players. So unless I’m missing something, the future they are going for is story-based content we all play through once, maybe have a couple encounters with other players, that no one wants to watch others do. The best memories I have on this game are the battles that happen when you run into another crew that has put time into Arena and can approach a fight with confidence. No Arena means there is not a combat practice system in the game, which will translate to more crews running, less player interaction, more complaints of pve players being sunk quickly by people who have had that practice. Arena should have been valued more based on the factors I’ve listed here vs. just simple player count.

@tntiseverywere you had years. choosing to not play arena was your choice. If you can not finish in the 6 weeks they gave you, thats not their fault.

The swords looks strange but I can't describe how. But the blunderbuss is gorgeous with the black chain. It doesn't match the legendary set that much but I will use it before looks pretty clean. Maybe swap the gold with silver but I dunno.

Weapons could be little different, i don't like how they look like the last weapons. It's just a variant from original, they gonna be like obsidian variants
