Cheating in SoT on Xbox One is not a thing...

  • While cheating in SoT on PC has been confirmed and videos already exist of streamers catching cheaters, the same cannot be true of the Xbox One console.

Sea of Thieves cheat software, or apps, or any known modifications to the Xbox One that would allow cheating SIMPLY DO NO EXIST AS OF 2018.

The Xbox 360 eventually had a robust modding community.

The Xbox One is still insolated from that due to changes that Microsoft implemented in the design that makes it extremely difficult to mod or hack.

Here is the FAQ from one of the largest cheat sites concerning the Xbox One. The sites entire business model and reputation is based on their ability to provide successful hacks to gamers that want to use them. They have NO MULTIPLAYER cheats for ANY Xbox One game. The only "hacks" that exist were intentionally put into the game by the designers as a feature for players to unlock with codes or in game actions.

    FAQ FOLLOWS:

Is there a way to cheat in Xbox One games and in online multiplayer?
In Short: While getting hacks to work is certainly possible on Xbox One, it is a highly complex process no matter what method you are going for. Unless the cheats are already hardcoded into the game as a feature, some serious external hardware and software is required on top of the know-how and the method to either run unsigned code, hacke the hardware or edit packets correctly. This is the case for both online and offline titles.

Is it currently (2017/2018) possible to run unsigned programs / code on a Xbox One? > NO!
Currently there are no known ways of running unsigned code, any program that is executed on an Xbox One is verified using encryption keys to verify the file integrity. Aside for quickly patched exploits, the chances of execution of unsigned code which would be required for client-side hacks, aimbots, bots ect is currently not possible.

Some Common Misconcetions about Xbox One Game Hacks:
First off, lets quickly debunk some myths that are out there about how to hack a Xbox One:

    1. There is NO USB Stick that hacks your console or install aimbots ect. It simply does not exists and the equipment required once it becomes possible to run unsigned code is way beyond a simple flash drive.

    2. Actual online game hackers on Xbox One are incredibly rare, because getting any sort of cheat, such as packet editing, hacked lobbies or mods to work is incredibly difficult and expensive.

    3. There are no online “generators”, online “tools”, online “hacks” that add stuff to your game be it an online or offline game. Thse are all survey scams and you should simply ignore them.

The Xbox One is a black box where modding and hacking without Microsofts cooperation is incredibly hard by default.

Physically hacking the Xbox: While this has not been done yet, memory editing and executing of hacks is certainly possible through hardware hacks that allow interception of ram data in order to inject hacks directly into the game data on the actual RAM. However, this is another incredibly expensive and complicated venture that so far is only based in theory. Usually the hardware has to develop a lot further than the actual console for this kind of hack to become possible. Nonetheless, it is certainly possible and we are waiting for the first Xbox One hardware hacks.

  • They really need to do something about all of the PC cheaters. Crossplay should 100% be optional, I did not buy a Xbox to compete against PC players if crossplay becomes the new meta for games. I will not buy any future Xbox’s.
Crossplay is downright ridiculous & cannot be balanced properly, everything from their hacks to their faster load times gives them an incredible advantage & really ruins the game at least for me. I can point you to YouTube videos where pc players are cycling through all four weapons. Not to mention the aimbot/invincible hacks. Rare I’m begging you don’t let PC players ruin a great game.

  • Who be accusing Xbox One users o' cheating?

Yer post be well laid out to make yer point... I'm just not sure why yer point needed makin' be all.

I play on Xb1X an' I've ne'er seen anyone accusing console players o' cheating.

  • I don’t believe he was accusing Xbox players of cheating. He was making it clear who the cheaters are. It’s the minority breaking the game for the majority. That was my take away anyway. Let the “m*********e” gamers cheat on one another. Whoever came up with crossplay is a downright fool in my opinion. Competitive gaming has to be balanced otherwise it’s not a fair competition. NFL & collegiate teams don’t crossplay, olympians & special olympians don’t cross compete. I really don’t know who’s brain child this crossplay idea was but it’s about as fair as cowboys & Indians & I’m really frustrated with it.

  • @captain-greyjoy said in Cheating in SoT on Xbox One is not a thing...:

lmaooooooo i can almost hear the "pc m*********e" coming to make sure they're known as the Olympians and we're (XbOne) the special ones

  • Doesn't take a genius to use lag switching with any system

  • The PC hacking is beyond out of control. Its more rare to come up against non-hackers now days then not. I don’t know if that’s due to frustration from non hackers not playing or simply never wanting to fight for fear of being ruined by hacks. Either way it’s in my opinion the biggest problem remaining with the game and the lack of any comment or concern from Rare is equally appalling.

Either I am confused by the title or you are just stating contradictory "facts."

"Cheating in SoT on Xbox One is not a thing..." then goes to say well it is, just really really hard to do. SMH also thanks @Captain-GreyJoy for reviving a necro thread.

  • @captain-greyjoy haha pc players have faster load times OMFG get a life!

If you did not see these issues before you purchased the game then you had your head in the sand...

  • Sorry everyone I’m not that forum savvy & sometimes post in the wrong places as I don’t really know what I’m doing. I commented on another thread & everyone was saying I should be posting on the mega thread, my apologies. In my defense all I did was search 🔍 “crossplay optional” & started commenting on the first few threads I saw. I’m not really sure what mega thread & necro thread even means. You would think a mega thread would be the first thing that pops up when you search if that’s the appropriate place 🤷‍♂️

  • @captain-greyjoy its just a dead thread that really didn't go anywhere 20 days ago. Then it gets bumped up the list to make it look "relevant."

  • @templarvictis Because this right?

  • @rileyr0cket I must’ve had my head in the sand then because I was completely oblivious prior to purchase. How would I know of game balancing issues before I bought & played the game? Was this information widely spread because I didn’t see it in the commercials. Do the developers know about these issues or are there heads deeper in the sand than my own? I don’t pay monthly Xbox premiums to play against PC players that’s my opinion you’re entitled to your own, I’m just here to make sure my opinions are heard. If I were in charge of Rares PR department I would seriously take a look at where the majority of our revenue was coming from & would lean toward taking my direction from the larger portion of that community. Like it or not we are the largest portion of the community if we quit playing do to unequal battlefield PC gamers are still stuck playing against PC gamers which would equate to the same thing as making crossplay optional

  • @captain-greyjoy if you did not figure that pc players would have an advanced over Xbox even when the Devs said in a video that pc players are better at killing skeletons than Xbox, then you did not do your research.

  • @rileyr0cket You’re correct I do not typically research games before I buy them. If the developers know that pc players have an advantage why can we not have crossplay optional. Trust me I’m not arguing from a disgruntled Xbox fanboy perspective if these things cannot be balanced properly it shouldn’t be part of the game that’s just what is fair & just. Believe you me if there is an advantage to be had Captain GreyJoy will be capatilizing on that #futurepcplayer #thnxRare

This is compleat b******s ... iam pirate legends i have play over 350 hours in this game so far , i play on PC and i have not encounter a Single " proper hackers " in this game Not a single time ... all i have seen is c**p like this

Wich is most likely server side hit registration problems ... also i play with xbox friends and they have not either encounter any legitimate hackers ... we all know the single video you talk about and it was before Microsoft as implemented any anti cheat into the game ...

So yeah please keep that BS for uneducated and clueless peoples who scream hacks here and there when there is much better explanation oh did i forgot to mention that i have over 600gb of seas of thieves sessions recorded of raw footage ? Please point me the " real hackers " in any of my videos ? ...

  • Not everyone has a high specs PC, and not every PC user is a cheater. Just saying.

  • I play on PC and I've yet to encounter a cheater.

  • @dragotech123 Yet every PC player has an advantage, regardless of specs.

  • @rileyr0cket said in Cheating in SoT on Xbox One is not a thing...:

    Oh this statement. Again...
That's like saying I am better at driving my car vs my friend driving his car. Its completely taken out of context and there is no data given. Only a statement. Do we know what test was done that proves Group A was better at a task compared to Group B?

Forget it, that was rhetorical. I am not going down this path again.

  • Funny how ive never heard anyone complaining about hacking on any Xbox One games before this one. Coincidently, this is the first one Ive played with PC cross play.
Are all PC players cheats? No. But there are enough of them that theyre ruining our time spent in the game.
I will never buy another cross play game again that doesnt allow me to turn it off.

  • I’m most certainly not claiming all pc players to be cheaters. In game it’s something I’ve only encountered once.

A sloop was chasing our galleon doing a S maneuver behind us this guy was 15 - 20 galleon lengths behind us completely nailing us with cannonballs. I don’t mean the ship either he was hitting our players with pinpoint accuracy. I seen one of the cannonballs incoming from the p**p deck looked like it was gonna hit me started running toward the front sail all while looking at the cannonball that seemed to be following me before
hitting me directly sending me to the ferry of the damned.

If a pc player can spawn back on his ship from the ferry 5secs faster than a Xbox player that is unbalanced & unfair.

What’s more is if I spend $500 on a Xbox & pay monthly premiums on Xbox service I should not be FORCED to play against pc player & be at even a slight disadvantage.

  • @stew360 So all the educated and clueless people believe there are hacks on PC and all the smart and intelligent people know there aren't?

Perhaps you're right. Perhaps you're wrong (about hacks). The way you have stated it has made you lose all your validity / credibility.

You make generalized statements about peoples' intelligence and generalized statements about peoples' own gaming experience because it doesn't 'match' your own.

And then you expect the smart and intelligent people to take you seriously.

  • The comments section on this topic should all go to brig!

This game is crossplay - fact!
Was made to be that way - fact!
It's made to bring players together in the same session without restriction - fact!
Players don't like it and complain! - play another thing! You knew it all along it would be crossed play. What are you fighting over platforms differences and trying to change the game over your will?

  • @seasiren8974267 I agree 100% if crossplay games are going to continue I will most certainly be switching allegiances & I foresee Xbox stock dropping immensely sell now investors.

  • @nunoazuldimeter
Isn't balanced between platforms - fact!

  • why the hell did we bump a low tier thread from a month ago

even if you do see someone cheat, explain how you can distinguish which platform they're playing on. this is just a witch hunt

  • @cpt-peach-beard Why do you care? Clearly there has been some good discussion here.

  • @blackbeard-lufy said in Cheating in SoT on Xbox One is not a thing...:

@cpt-peach-beard Why do you care? Clearly there has been some good discussion here.

this isnt a discussion it's a witch hunt. grow up

  • @seasiren8974267 I have heard the cry of "cheating" all the time playing Destiny1/2 over the past few years. I never played cod/bf but im sure those games also had their fair share of people complaining about so called cheaters with no actual proof.

I am not saying that actual hackers/cheating doesn't exist. However, people cry out loud that someone was cheating all to often when they did something they don't fully understand. (see the May 1st developer video, where they touched on the "invulnerability" bug during the tutorial portion of the game)

  • @cpt-peach-beard Seems like a bunch of the messy crossplay threads have been bumped in the last couple of hours.

  • @blackbeard-lufy said in Cheating in SoT on Xbox One is not a thing...:

    @nunoazuldimeter
Isn't balanced between platforms - fact!

Isn't balanced in one aspect, PvP. We all know by the beginning PC has advantages over FPS games.
So what ,is that all about the game?
Are you forced to fight against those players alone? As I recall tactics and self improvement as nothing to do with platforms by ourselves.
Can't you escape from them, if you don't want to fight them?
Can't you manup enough to know they have advantage and adapt you self to turn the advantages to your side?
Can't you stronger your self using the same feature (crossplay) and team up with other people from the pc?!

Because I do.. I don't have any complaints since me and my mate (both on Xbox) learned how to play together
There's another thing. Since we both play on Xbox and my friend can beat up pc players but I don't it just can only say one thing. The real problem here isn't the crossplay but me. I'm bad at PvP. Simple. I can't blame the feature.

  • @mrbrocksego Again I apologize I’m not a big forum person. I just searched for what I was going on about & started replying to the top threads that popped up.

  • @awesomecoreusa said in Cheating in SoT on Xbox One is not a thing...:

Well there is that one hack with the rubber band.... so we got that I guess.

  • @captain-greyjoy Hey it happens and honestly on a forum you can't win. Make a new post and people go why can't you search! Comment on an old post and get err bumping. And then the mix of megathread complaints.

Honestly I like debating things so I'm always up to reply to an old comment. I also have seen a number of other crossplay complaint threads so I wasn't trying to single you out :)

    Have fun and happy sailing
