So as many here suggested ( countless times) I told him to use his imagination. Problem is he tries, but can't do anything he imagines.
Literally no form of entertainment works like that, even when some imagination is required or even encouraged.
D&D requires imagination, but that doesn't mean you can make yourself an immortal lion tamer who wields a magic electric guitar.
Skyrim lets you enter a fantasy world with a huge variety of roles to play, but you can't become a Space Ranger.
Books lets you imagine the worlds described to you, but you don't decide what happens on the next page.
Even "Create your own Adventure" novels take place within a branching, but restrictive narrative.
Sea of Thieves is a Pirate fantasy game, and everything we imagine ourselves doing, and are capable of doing, has to exist within the confines of a Pirate fantasy world.
When people say "use your imagination", you have to remember the reality of the game we're playing. Of course we can't race sharks, or duel with snakes, or sadly even compose our own dance routines.
I won't hold any of this against your kid; He was told "be creative" and he sure is very creative, and that's awesome.
I'm fairly certain none of us could comprehend AAA game development when we were 9, so no one holds this against him.
But why are you here arguing about this? Surely you understand why creating our own dance moves, using snakes for swords and drawing faces on Krakens, aren't actually realistic expectations to have?
And to be clear; Sea of Thieves is rated T, or PEGI 12, meaning your son's still a few years off the recommended age group, so I would encourage you to consider this as well, and absolutely mute other crews when he plays.
