My thoughts on the latest Developer Update.

  • First of all, it’s true that it’s good to hear the developers openly admit they were wrong, that they want to be clearer, and that they want to take responsibility. But here’s the problem I have: this isn’t the first time this sort of talk has been made, and my feeling remains the same: I’ve lost all trust in the developers’ fine words! As far as I’m concerned, my trust has been broken, and it will stay that way until changes are made! I’m fed up with hearing fine words; now I want action!
I know my opinion is at odds with the majority, but honestly, I don’t care!

    Regarding Season 20:
It’s good to see a season that seems dedicated to bug fixes; we’ve been asking for this for a long time, but for goodness’ sake: don’t say that Season 20 will consist solely of CS! What a mistake, seriously!
The problem isn’t the presence of CS, but, as we said on the Insider forum, dedicating Season 20 solely to the release of CS is a bad idea! Because, contrary to what it might seem, it’s certainly not content! And even less so content for the general public!
We know that CS servers are mainly aimed at streamers and various communities, but do you really think the average player is going to spend time—a lot of time—on that sort of server?

EDIT: I forgot to mention that, as well as announcing the presence of the CS for the season, what’s actually most outrageous is the sheer number of FOMO-style events that will form the basis of this season (and no doubt the ones to follow) – and that’s enough! You can’t claim you’re listening to the players, etc. WHEN MOST of us, the MAJORITY of insiders, keep telling you that you need to stop this!
So to sum up: Season 20 = CS + FOMO!
And do you think that’s going to restore confidence in you? Is this a joke?

As for cosmetics, to be honest, I’m waiting to see the prices of each of the cosmetics that will be available at the outposts, because if they release skins (however beautiful they may be) for just 100,000 gold at most, it’s pointless as it won’t solve the gold economy issue.

As for the change to raid travel, I’ll wait and see! I don’t have a strong opinion on the matter, because honestly, I don’t care!

Especially as, regarding the issue of server population – the ‘dives’ – I know that the majority of players who want to switch servers don’t do so by voting for a raid trip for a World Event, but by taking a simple The Gold Collector's Quest. So, in all honesty, I doubt this announced change will make any difference to the problem.

All this to say that, in the end, despite Drew’s fine words, I don’t believe him anymore!
I’d prefer him to stop releasing videos where he says: ‘we got it wrong’ and so on… But I’d like him to make videos when the changes, improvements and so on are about to go live.
Announcing, for the umpteenth time, that the team is working on the same issues, and over a period of several months, doesn’t exactly boost my confidence in you!

I’m sorry if you don’t like my message, but that’s my opinion, my reaction after watching this video!
