Allow us to select which tier trophy/trinket to place down

  • I'm a man who enjoys roleplaying, and I'm a man who enjoys fishing. Therefore, my ships are naturally adorned with the trophies and trinkets of the Hunter's Call, which I enjoy hanging proudly on the walls and shelves of my ships. I've bought the cherished version of the painting of "The Hunter's Spoils," and the golden and jewel-encrusted frame looks great inside of my massive, wealthy-looking galleon party boat.

However, in my small, intentionally crummy-looking sloop, it looks garish and unfitting with the rest of the decoration. I would very much prefer to put a lower-tiered version of that painting in there, but unfortunately, there's no way for me to "downgrade" the trophy back to a normal wooden frame.

Which is why I made this topic. I think it would be great if, when we place down a trinket or a trophy, the game allows us to choose if we want to put down the Admired, Prized, Treasured, or Cherished version of that particular trophy/trinket. I think it would give players more freedom in the kind of decorations they can place on their ships and avoid buyer's remorse if they end up disliking the higher-tier versions. It could either be every version side by side in the menu, or, if that might take up too much place, you could have the four options appear when you select the decoration to place.

Please consider it, Rare, I think ship decorations was one of your greatest ideas and this could only make it better.

  • We need this in many places tbh.

Being able to have a drop down UI to select which "form/level" of a cosmetic we want would be dope as heck.

  • I simply look at the trophy or trinket. If I don’t like what I see….don’t upgrade it.

  • @someguy3657 I personally don't like any of the cherished versions as I feel like they appear gaudy and tacky. I've stopped buying them but agree when you've paid for and own all versions you should keep access to them. Maybe have an option to hide lower versions if you choose as could take up a lot of space

  • @burnbacon what if I want to make a ship full of low tier trinkets and then one full of max tier trinkets? Atm I would have to have forsight and decorate the low tier boat first fully and hope it never resets and then upgrade.

I think thats a very unsatisfying situation all around

  • @burnbacon the annoying thing for me is I match my trinkets to my ship’s overall cosmetics and tier 2 looks best on my brig as my brig uses mostly cool/ashy undertone cosmetics… while my sloop uses warm tone cosmetics so tier 3 looks best on my sloop.

I did find if you upgrade it after placing it, it retains the tier you placed until you replace it. So I kind of got around this in that way, but when the game bugs and a trinket resets then it goes to whatever tier I have last purchased. So not 100%

  • This need to become a thing.
    Please Rare
