I just want more weapons. A simple rifle or musket would make me very happy. We need more variety in combat.
Even just the option to unequip the scope for the EoR would dramatically change the feel of combat; I firmly believe it would feel like an entirely new weapon all together. No additional balancing needed. The perfect solution!
Um, how would that work exactly? Still have slow aim time, but better accuracy and damage than flintlock? What about hipfire? Would it still be inaccurate? Honestly, if the answer to both of these is yes, then I think it would overshadow the flintlock, simply because you will have the added peripheral vision on top of the other advantages already mentioned.
Yes, slow ADS & inaccurate hipfire just as the EoR is now; and yes, you would gain peripheral vision but you lose zoom/accuracy at a distance as the trade off. Most EoR users only scope in for a brief moment. The accuracy of both would basically be tied up until the Flintlocks bullet drop off kicks in. Just as certain Flintlocks have bad iron sights; I assume a lot of the models of EoR without the scope would face the same challenges. Not all would have an accurate ADS. I don't believe it would overshadow the Flintlock as its hipfire accuracy and reload speed alone would still allow it to carve its own unique niche. Most people use the EoR in unison with the Blunderbuss/Flintlock/Cutlass regardless. Also, as superfluous as it may seem, a lot of people use the Cutlass/Blunderbuss as well. Many in which make it work quite effectively actually even with the obvious disadvantage it poses in the water. The only combination I see less than Cutlass/Flintlock is Blunderbuss/Flintlock. You wouldn't be able to equip the EoR & the unscoped EoR at the same time; so you would still see the EoR/unscoped EoR with either the Blunderbuss, Flintlock, or Cutlass in most combat scenarios.
