A Reaper's Heart Costume

  • Reaper's Bones, a formidable force of pirate who steal, plunder, and kill with no regards for what happens.
Or that's what they're supposed to be...
Instead we see a large group of Reaper's who make me laugh at how fast they can run away in the face of another pirate.
When I joined SOT I thought the Reaper outfit would only be given to the strongest and most fierce of fighters, instead I see a person who just joined on a sloop being toxic to a ship that went afk.

So why would I write something so lengthy?
Here is my suggestion: The Reaper's Heart Costume
Like a regular reaper's outfit it's garb would have a golden mask and a hooded outfit, but now the black poncho would become more of a red cape and hood, and hanging form the belt would be the emissaries of fallen ships as a sort of trophey.
This could also be an alternative to a skeleton curse ( or the disgusting paywall skeleton Santa) . Now underneath the cloth of the Reaper's outfit would (in smaller parts such as the fingers and ribs) show a skeleton trying to hide it's true form.

Now finally after reading this you might be thinking "How does this fix the problem?" well my swashbuckling friend you would only be able to get this outfit at level 50 in Reaper's Bones and not only that it would cost 3,500,000 gold.

Sorry for the painfully long suggestion and thank you for reading!

  • well yeah

just in case my monkey and I wanna match when we go to a blue oyster cult concert

  • @saltedpepper821 Making this really expensive won't make it exclusive to good pvpers plenty of PVE only players have way more than this amount of money. And as for level 50 Reaper Bones that's more PVE as well. If you really want a PVP outfit it should be locked behind the Legendary or Triumphant Sea Dog commendation. But I doubt anyone would use the outfit anyway.

  • @sot-player30 nothing should be lock behind the abomination that is Arena. But they could attach it to an accommodation based on how many ships you have sunk in the real game.

  • @sot-player30 Reaper's when introduced in the trailer was literally called a PVP faction.... By price I mainly just mean for older players who have millions of gold stashed and nothing to spend it on or work towards.

I appreciate your impute either way!

Also I think arena is dead, I sat in a lobby for one and a half hours and didn't get into a game, sad they won't be updating it any time soon.

  • @wolfmanbush This made me chuckle.

    Thank you for the input!

  • Decent idea, having a higher level variant of a faction's costume, not sure that lvl50 is a high enough benchmark though. Not really sure how I feel about costumes in general though, I don't usually wear them, although they are a convenient way to quickly change your look. Anyway it might be fun if they added this.

  • Why the hell does anyone think it means Something what they wear?

The Boys with hoods and masks are the ones i dont take serious from start, just to say .

  • I see the point about running Reapers, so maybe there is something to be done about giving players a little nudge about the role they're playing, and maybe a shiny new costume can be that something. As others have pointed out though, putting it behind reaching 50 rep with RB doesn't necessarily do that, as you can PvE grind your way there. So maybe locking it behind a certain number of stolen treasure items and/or broken emissary flags cashed in would be the way to go?

  • @theseventeas That is true, maybe a certain amount of special new accommodations that are player/ship pvp based could remedy that instead of a reached level.

  • I'm still waiting for non-costume faction clothing, we have enough costumes already...

  • @william-flint Just curious how many Arena games have you played and what was the last time you played it?

  • @saltedpepper821 I agree Arena is dead. This might bring a bit of life back to it. And I know they said they won't update anytime soon.

  • @sot-player30 Let me acknowledge first that I came in way to salty, even if I do feel that way about Arena.

I haven't played it much, since I kind of despise it, but since you ask I have played around 70 matches, so it's not like I haven't given it a chance. The first time I played was on its release. The last time I played was several months ago during the event when they were awarding the X of courage items. I decided to give it another go, but after multiple sessions of getting 1 match per hour gave up.

Leaving the reasons I don't like it aside, I get perhaps overly irritated when it is suggested that items that should be tied to pvp like weapons and the suggested reaper outfit should be arena only. You can tie them just as easily to pvp in adventure, with the difference that you actually have to act like a pirate and go hunt down some prey, rather than be provided with a target rich environment in which half the ships are under crewed and those who are loosing often just abandon the match. It is especially a sore spot since the legend weapons set everyone had been waiting for was locked into the new, (I feel substandard) mode in a pretty obvious bid to drive up arena player counts.

  • @william-flint the Reapers faction does need some work, but that shouldn't mean taking content away from the already neglected Arena mode. If that's what you're suggesting.....
