I apologise if this has already been suggested in one way or another, I did try to look through a few pages first.
I think it would be amazing to fully customize our ships, not just the sails and hull colours, but almost everything, in the styles of the factions, and maybe also in other ways also, I can't help but imagine what an Order of the Souls themed ship would look like, probably similar to the ghost ship we respawn on...The spooky Lanterns like the ones you can purchase from OoS, a glowing trimmed Steering wheel, a Gilded Navigation table with skulls!
Things you could customize could be any of the following and anything others/developers think of!
-Hull a bit better than just the painted styles you can currently purchase...add some detailing, and different styled wood, instead of the painted options, maybe add darker or lighter dyed wood, and gilded symbols to represent factions or accomplishments, to add a touch of class, instead of the tacky looking paint jobs...
-Cannons, obviously purely cosmetic, no upgrade options, just different themed cannons.
-Ship's Lanterns, themed to the respective factions or different styles/coloured lighting to choose from.
-Steering Wheel and the compass also.
-Decking, different styled woods and detailing, for elegance.
-Navigation Map Table, themed.
I'm a big fan of being able to customize to my liking in any game, as I'm sure others are, instead of having essentially identical Sloops or Galleons, you'd have a ship that was genuinely yours by style, any other personalization would just be a bonus.
I know this isn't the most surprising of suggestions, others have probably posted it or thought it in one variation or another, but, thanks for reading. :)
