Disappointed that Microsoft and RARE delivered such a cheapskate game for $60

    What they have done is here is take something that could be a good game and just went the wrong direction though. Microsoft had the funding to do this game justice. Every time they had a choice they went the cheap way out. I guess I just expected more for a full price game.

    I mean what was it? Did Microsoft told you to make a game with a budget of $5,000 ? Did RARE ran out of cash? Time? How do you deliver a game that is lacking so much content, for $60. This is probably one of the largest Rip-Off's I have ever experienced on any game I have ever played. If RARE or Microsoft had any decency they would re-imburse everyone at least 50% the cost of the game if not all the spent money for the amount of content left out.

    • Want more than 12 premade toons or a character creator? You won't get it out the box.
    • Want an RPG added to the MMO? You won't get it.
    • Reusing the same art over and over yes.
    • Want more than the 2 canned ships? Well too bad.
    • More than the 3 weapon choices? nope.
    • One enemy type? Check
    • Same quests even when you grind up rep for cosmetics.
    • A total of 5 NPC models for the whole game? Check. No reason to waste time on art anyway.

    The content or lack thereof is glaring right now. With little to keep an audience in the game. I was hoping for more all around, and I am not even getting into the mechanics of the game which left something to be desired or the matchmaking which is complete garbage.

    I just did not expect an alpha game release from a major studio or from Microsoft for that matter.

    They could have added a fourth faction to allow people to hunt either NPC Pirates or Players for bounty... They could have added another evil faction other than skeletons? More Raid type content? Something out of defeating th ordeal of the Kraken or maybe some other random event of the same nature like a whirpool or another monster like a sea snake...

    The list of could have had and could have been is endless, and if the game that we got is the game that it is, then at least price it reasonably. This game should not have been priced higher than $30. At $60 I feel violated by Microsoft and RARE.

    Seriosuly, you should all be fired.

    What is the point of this post? I mean, you are disappointed in the game... request a refund. Leave. Go on with your life. Those of us enjoying it will continue to enjoy it.

    Yup, it's pretty disgraceful.

    I'd bet every piece o' eight I've ever had that this game was the product of development hell, or moderate/severe project mismanagement.

    I don't really blame Rare for releasing it, in fact I doubt they truly wanted to. Microsoft probably forced that one, and it was irresponsible of them to greenlight it versus delay/cancellation. This is an early Early Access game, and were it in my hands I would feel bad for even charging anything at all.

    I wonder if we'll ever get the full inside story, it would be instructive.

    I have to disagree.

    1. Did you play the beta?
    2. Are you aware there will be added material and DLC?
    3. You could have looked at reviews and played a month of it as a trial.

    This would be an INCREDIBLE game for $20. For $60 it's false advertising and a cash grab.

    He’s not completely wrong. The game coulda been so much more but unfortunately this is the game we have. Go get this bring it back. Literally every quest. Skull forts are fun at first but they get old. Where the game really shines is trolling other people tho because gold means nothing which is why this game won’t survive unless something changes.

    If you played the beta you saw what it was gonna be and you should've looked into it you only have your self to blame for expecting more than what the devs promised. There's only one thing I can name from my memory that the devs didn't put in and that's a reward for defeating the kraken but in this game you have to make your own fun if you don't like it go post a review but this is for discussion to improve the game! Go complain about it somewhere else or remove all the whining and suggest stuff because if we continue to whine "Lack of content" that doesn't do anything at all but if you ask for a certain feature there's a good chance it could be in the game but whining doesn't accomplish that. People like you should know the forums aren't for you to bash the game but discuss and improve it, this does nothing of the sort and was done only to make the devs look like something they aren't.

    First to apportion blame you have to determine the action that is considered wrong.

    In this thread it appears to be that the purchaser / OP expected more from the game than was in the game.

    That suggests that the OP did not research the game before purchasing the game, ergo ending up disappointed that the game was not what he wanted said game to be.

    At that point the blame IS on the customer, as they did not research what they were purchasing.

    To apportion blame to Rare / Microsoft you would have to prove that the game was rushed / incomplete and that they were aware of this at the time of release and intentionally misled the consumer regarding the content in said game.

    Honestly, what bothers me the most is the complete lack of servers for each region.
    We are forced to play with over 200ms ping against players who clearly have much lower, since you can easily notice how they can hit you during a fight, while you can't really do s**t to them.

    Why do they sell a game on a region that is not supported? I would understand it if it was a PvE game, but this game is mostly PvP, and whoever says the opposite is clearly lying to himself.

I think with my head and never make bad financial decisions but when I do and can't admit it I blame those jerks for advertising the game and having tons of coverage of it on YouTube also giving detailed videos of the devs describing the game!

    Seriously, you can't actually believe it's their fault when you're the one making the final decision at the end of the day, you could've easily waited until it launched then never had to buy it.

    This is not a game worth $60. It isn't. You can't argue otherwise. It's a bad product.

    Yes it was released too early, but what's here now is good enough to keep coming back almost everyday, because I'm really enjoying it the moment, I'm not grinding, I'm just enjoying sailing about doing some quests etc.
    In 3 months time is when I'll judge it properly, but at the moment all is good.

    @tgirgis I love the game and that's my honest opinion I knew I would like this game that's why I dropped $60 on it. There's no argument that you're just trying to find ways to run away from the fact YOU SPENT THE MONEY!!!! Nobody was putting a gun against your head, you had the choice to not buy it so why blame that on the developers? The beta showed what the game was and that's accurate you couldn't believe that they'd add loads of more content in a matter of months. Though here I am trying to reason with you and you'll reply simply with "Nu uh, it's their fault not mine" so continue to whine all you want I'm out of here.

    @awfulcitizen This is a great game. Is it worth 60.00?? No your right its not. At least it does not have that feel for me. Like you said the amount of content is not very much at all! I was very disappointed about that same as you. They should have released it at no more than 45.00 In order for them to correct this they need to make a BIG expansion pack and update the Kraken to have a body and head. The expansion pack would need to be either cheep or free for the community to not feel over charged. Otherwise I do not recommend this game at the 60.00 price. Wait till it drops to 45.00 or lower
