Stole my first Doubloon Crate and it was exhilarating!

    • Stirred up in the Unicorn, grabbed a storage crate, looted the spire, and eye'd the two red-eyed skulls in the sky.
    • Pick up Golden Chaser rowie at Crook's and load her up with a nearby Cannon of Rage—the meat is cooked.
    • Sailed past the fort o' the damn'd—abandoned, perhaps on purpose.
    • I slam the bilge rat voyage down and steer towards the pickup point, Plunder Valley—I get the merfruit ready.
    • A sloop skulks around Lost Gold as I approach Wei-Lin's hideout, and I circle the entire coast for mermaids before I raise sails and harpoon the shore.
    • With exuberance, I dash into the cave and catch a spiked log to the face—blasted traps!
    • ...As I return to my ship with The Crate, I spot a brigantine near Wanderer's. The sloop at Lost Gold has disappeared—I shall not telegraph my intent—I'll reach Cannon Cove and use the rowie with The Crate in tow for the last leg towards Crescent.
    • The Brigantine sails past my sloop as I nestle into the Cove—they are suspiciously peaceful. I eject the rowie with the supply crate, cannon of rage, Doubloon Chest and set my bearing West towards Crescent.
    • Not a soul as I approach Crescent—no mermaids, no Sloops or brigs—I'm clear to hand in. I survey the back of the island in my rowboat to ensure I'm truly safe—I grab the Doubloon Crate and feel its weight as I gingerly skirt the traps—there is satisfaction as I hand it in, and hear the chime.
    • I head back to my rowboat and take a moment to think of the next step—I'm already here, with merfruit, a cannon of rage, and a rowboat. Perhaps I'll harpoon up and wait for someone?
    • I do just that—I aim above the cave, towards the top o' the isle, and let the gun propel me to the grassy hills above.

Lo! A Sloop raises its sails on the tip o' the Crescent! I reach into my pocket and bite into the enchanted merfruit...

  • The question: is this player here to steal? To drop off? To collect? Are they alone?

If they're here to drop off, I must act quickly! Stealth be damned!

I sprint towards the hideout, and in doing so I cross paths with the sole pirate—nothing in his hands—he spots me and makes a courageous, albeit unskilled, attempt on my life. With only a blunderbuss and harpoon gun, I am able to send him to the ferry.

I sling over to his ship and recognize the parchment on the quest table—Indeed, this man is picking up a doubloon crate!

I climb up into the crows nest, fully expecting the lad to scuttle, but hoping his convictions keep him here. Thankfully, he respawns and does an incomplete sweep of the vessel before returning to the shore and disappearing into the brush. I doubt the efficacy of the crows nest hiding spot and decide hang on the sea-side of his vessel.

Within seconds, he returns empty handed and immediately locks-in to my side of the ship... he clearly spotted me and so I harpoon myself onto the shore in an attempt to hide again. As I run into the trees, the ground rumbles and the claws of the gigantic ocean crawlers breach the surface. I crouch, and then disguise myself as a barrel near some rocks.

The monsters discourage my follower, I presume—I don't see him—and I guess he doesn't see me. As soon as I'm able, I bite into another merfruit and relocate near his ship, disguised.

Finally, I see him a few meteres away with the prize. He runs up his harpoon rope, and heads into his saloon. As soon as he's down there, I harpoon onto the ladder and climb aboard.

    This is the moment!

He runs up! I blunder him off his vessel, he tries to board, and is defeated.

The doubloon crate was resting on the barrel near the equipment chest. I grab it, and jump off the ship. I have no idea whether he knew where my rowboat was, but that's where I was headed, behind a little rock.

I jump in, and see his mast lowering into the sea as I row away.

This was one of the best Sea of Thieves experiences I've had in a long time.

  • Ive already begun setting up black powder around the area for these moments. :P
4 stolen already....so many players do not like it.

  • Would be another benefit of extending the challenges/events to a week and leave doubloon voyages exclusively for the weekend - my own 'To Do' list is too long to try and camp a sell point.
Pirates should be given surplus voyages as well.
A solo has no surplus voyages while a multi crew has a 5 time multiple of their crew size.

    Would be a win-win.
Hunters can focus on ambushes and the hapless victim is not punished by loss of new currency for that Weekender.
