So um... where is Kraken?

@r3vanns Funny you mention this. I was thinking the exact same thing just yesterday..and then it happened. I joined an open crew sloop with a newer player. He'd been playing for a few months and we were having fun unlocking some commendations for him while he was grinding to Pirate Legend. Then we got into some semi-sweaty PvP with a Brig and wouldn't ya know it? We get Krakened. I exclaimed over the mic that "wow I feel like I haven't seen the Kraken in forever"...he says "this is the first time I've ever seen this!" Now, he only has 4 days played, but to have not seen even ONE Kraken in 100 hours of gameplay feels kinda crazy. I feel like I used to see it once per session back in the day or at worst maybe once every other session. That's the first time I've seen the Kraken this season and what feels like much longer than that.

This game is becoming more evil as the time goes lol. There are so many sessions where barely anything is happening, and then ofc you get Rared in PvP with a Kraken after not seeing it since who knows when 😂 Grats btw, that must've been a chaotic fun encounter! 😁 Also glad to hear the beastie still exists.

When they announced they'll be lowering the occurrence of emergent and patrolling skellies I was hoping that would maybe finally help with running into a Kraken more often, but sadly I yet have to encounter one.

Through the entire S17 I only encountered ONE.

In S18 I'm currently at 84 Renown. 0 Krakens so far.

I never dive and get kraken'd pretty regular.

More sailing you do more likely you are going to be in her loving embrace. Not enough to be annoying but not so rare that I miss her.

I also never dive mate, forgot to mention that in the OP. And as I did mention, I do a lot of sailing, both between the events and during events.

But yea, for some reason it just doesn't wanna spawn on me. 🙁 Like SweetSandMan said, few seasons before we were running into it regularly. And then it slowly started to be more rare.

@pc-monkfish I very rarely dive as well. I prefer the old school more organic play-style.

Yeah it certainly added an element of intensity during the fight. Luckily (or not) the Brig crew loved to hard reset when they took even slight pressure and they were far enough away doing a reset that we were able to quickly kill the Kraken before they could take advantage of our "luck."

What's funny is that just this morning during my session, I went over to help out another ship in defeating the Barnacled Dread. Right after it was vanquished, a regular meg spawned, and right after that, as the other crew started sailing away, they got Krakened while a Reaper Fort was still up. It's like Rare heard my thoughts about not seeing the Kraken 😂 and decided to bring them back.

I don’t think I’ve seen a kraken since season 15 and maybe not even then. I did watch some friends get krakened yesterday. I’m at a funny number for kraken kills and have it displayed in my logbook, so don’t want to kill any and change that.

I got a Kraken spawn on me today. It was actually while another world event (Ghost Fleet) was active, so it seems like that change was implemented. Probably awhile ago but this is the first time I've seen it.

Kraken encounters can now occur on a server alongside some other World Events such as Skeleton Forts.

But I think krakens were disabled completely for a short time after this because they were spawning constantly and needed to be tweaked. Not sure exactly how long that lasted, but I don’t think it was more than a month.

Yeah, I remember that too. But it looks like they got it working again at some point.

I had a long period of having no krakens after Season 11 was introduced... I think it took about 3 seasons before I eventually got one again. Like a lot of things in Sea of Thieves, it just seems to be good or bad RNG whether you get something or not. The Eternal Guards seem to be one of those that I see people complaining they can't find any but I find them very regularly.

Yea, admittedly that's true for me as well. I had 0 issues finding them. Literally every session, and like 9/10 on Flintlock Peninsula.

If only Kraken spawned that much on me to get sick of it in 3 days again 😂 RNG is sometimes really super weird in this game.
