Dear Rare Team,
I wanted to say thank you for continuing to expand Sea of Thieves and for listening to your community every time you get the chance to. The reason I'm writing this is to discuss an addition to the Hourglass cosmetics. The Hourglass system has added many amazing depths to faction experiences, and cosmetics tied to Alligence progression are some of the most motivating rewards in the game right now.
I want to consider introducing PvE pathways to Hourglass cosmetics alongside PvP progression. Right now, these rewards are locked behind a competitive scene, which makes sense for the PvP players who play this for that very reason to show their skill and perseverance. However, many PvE-focused players feel excluded from this sort of faction identity, even though they are equally invested in the lore and roleplay of the Guardians of Fortune and the Servents of the Flame.
Community discussion highlights this separation. PvP players themselves have noted issues with matchmaking and burnout, while PvE players express some frustrations at being locked away entirely. Adding PvE options such as faction-themed voyages, Tall Tale completions, or world events while flagged for allegiance would broaden engagement without bringing down PvP prestige. Progression could be slower, or cosmetics could have different quests to obtain them for PvE players, ensuring that PvP achievements remain seen to the community.
Sea of Thieves thrives because it embraces different playstyles of PvP and PvE. By expanding Hourglass cosmetics to include PvE progression, you would honor that difference, strengthen player loyalty, and ensure that every pirate can wear their allegiance proudly.
Thank you,
Chewy#5136
