"Its Free" is not an excuse for mediocre game design.

  • Many have purchased the cosmetics. Many have enjoyed the game.

But every time I see a veteran post 'its free' to defend bad decisions and gameplay... its a very poor excuse.

The numbers are down and I don't see S10.. bringing back a lot of players. Guilds is a tacked on UI (like captaincy) to get us to do the same things over and over again. Its half-baked. Plain and simple. How about introducing Pirate Havens for the guilds then Guilds can participate in GvG? (that in itself isn't even a new idea! But it would improve Guilds a lot more..)

If paid DLC is needed to get great content out, I'd happily pay it forward. And Im sure many thousands of players that truly love the game would do to.

"Its Free" has been overused as an excuse for years. Its time for a real change for this game. No more slow mediocre roll-outs.

  • Guilds is way more than a tacked on UI.

Every game is basically doing the same thing over and over again. Fortnite, Doom, Halo, etc.

I wouldn't doubt that there are other unannounced things being considered. (Again: there are 6 ships on the sea, and 6 sea fortresses... could easily see these become guild hangouts, and the mechanics are currently in the game to allow ships to merge into servers... so I could se 2 ship guild alliances eventually being a thing).

Problem with Paid DLC is it would either ruin the concept that the game isn't pay to win, or split the player base like the COD map packs did.

This, I've seen it and it is way way more.

Show me how this is going to get thousands of players back to do the same voyages over and over again.

Sure, lets pull out competitive shooters with ranked events and thousands of dollars into community made events on the line..

Ah the carrot on the stick. "More just around the corner".

Common, we've been here for years.. and the slow rollouts are a drag. You know it. Just admit it.

6 ships on the sea? Are you sure about that because they have reduced it to 5 in the past without actually doing the right thing and directly telling us..

Paid DLC in other forms. COD has many different COD games. And they all sell.

Do the original COD players (and I mean original back in COD 1) still play COD one just waiting for Activision to 'add on' 'its free' content from many years ago? No, the studio moves on and remakes a new version of the game. I just call it paid DLC here because we're on a live service model. But Id happily pay for a Sea of Thieves 2 if thats what it takes..

Are we still on the old Xbox and need to support that?! Throw that stuff out.. Its time to move on.

  • Imagine a ''Hub" for pirates to go and meet and basically have the option to set up a custom server for PvE and/or PvP battles where they can invite other crews to participate.

its crazy how there is someone up there getting paid to make all this bad decisions like achievements enable in pve servers and some other stuff i cant talk about yet, while they get free high quality feedback here from actually passionate core players which would revive the game, but it seems our posts dont get read by the right people or are just ignored

There are so many cool ideas for Rare to do this. It would be really cool for players to meet in a hub, dock their ships, sign up for different crews. Participate in Tavern games like poker to spend some of those millions that have been earned.

I agree. But Rare offers 'Free Content' you just have to wait a year to get something half baked.

yeah imagine having something like a tradepost from Rust where people meet in a safezoned place to bet, joke around and plan quests, maybe even make alliances, i suggested this multiple time over the years but its just ignored, i understand the problem of add betting, the game pg would have to rise and it would be banned in some countries, but a safezoned outpost with minigames and other socializing things, its revolting how its not even been discussed, and they are making moves to reduce even further player interaction, its just sad to see the game being drove to a cliff despite all warnings

In so many conversations it comes down to "group finder fails". This changes everything, when I sign on I look and there is a 3 man galleon online, I am in, done.

This is a major shift. I can't wait to be able to reliably group up for content I have not really done solo.

  • @lord-spark-0 Ahoy matey!

Please remember to talk to your fellow forum pirates with the same respect you would want and deserve...

I am happy for you to continue your debates and discussions but please do it respectfully or I will be forced to take action.
