Typically year one players have received something special on the anniversary for our loyalty and dedication. This year seems kinda like a let down on the anniversary rewards. Just kinda suprised and venting I suppose.

Many year 1 players took literally years off.
There wasn't a lot of content, they got bored and came back when everyone else started playingI think it's time to move on from rewarding someone for logging in 4 years ago imo.
Activity makes the game thrive and that is happening from people with all levels of experience and time spent here.
No please stop rewarding year 1 players who for a large part took massive breaks from the game and missed some seasons even.
There is nothing that feels worst for the rest of the community then Rare giving rewards that are not even eligible to try to get while Y1 players arguably still have the best and definitely rarest cosmetics in the game.
Y1 players have multiple complete sets that are time limited alongside a tone of other time limited cosmetics while the rest of the community has been stuck with mainly time limited makeup.
I agree with most answers: year one payers have already been rewarded for playing the game. There’s no reason for even more items or titles.
Although, as a year one player myself, I am very happy with the golden sailor wheel and cannon flare. If Rare is going to release even more golden sailor items in the future, year one players will be the only ones to complete this set. 😉
I was really excited every year to see what unique items will be part of the anniversary celebration.
The wheel is meh but the flare is cool, personally I want these items to be clothes or tools, it feels more personal then ship parts.
I see no issue in asking to continue this nice anniversary tradition, fanboys are acting like no other game is doing it but its not true.

i was really hyped when sot came out and played it till the pirates of the caribean update constantly . today i logg in when a new update came out and close the game after 2 hrs and dont touch it anymore till the next update,because its so boring.and the seafort update is the greatest trash they ever added , i can cheese it to easily it with no end and that kills the whole adventure cause even a emissary voyage dosent give u that amount of items in a short time ,same for regular forts why are they still in the game? they r not worth doin it anymore...sot is a mess

I don't use them but them existing has a place and a time imo.
People that want to sail around with friends and engage in activities that are less intense and competitive can use them for fun. The experience mullet of a pirate's life offers time for business and a time to party, both have value.

I use them for killing shadow skeletons at night, saves raising my lantern whilst killing them. So they're not that stupid and do have uses.

@big-jim-diamond Well, i just started playing 6 months ago, and my son (who's 12) just stared playing. I think the anniversary rewards are awesome, a lot of games don't offer annual rewards. Dude, appreciate what you are given and stop complaining!

What happens if you were not home and unable to play over the weekend because you have adult responsibilities? In the past, you just received the items and did not have to interact with the game.

Exactly. This is the aspect that I don't appreciate from Rare - they're often not consistent. 😒

Game companies don't respect us as players with lives anymore and instead view us as walking ATMs.
Basically, this limited login time, along with the Plunder Pass and events are just things put in place for artificial player retention.
Play literally any online game and you will be plagued with Battle Passes and limited time item shops, etc. Sea of Thieves lasted about 3 years but unfortunately can't seem to keep up and now have resorted to making players feel that they NEED to play as opposed to WANTING to play.
This is the same reason the game has received nerfs to tons of stuff, Eye of Reach skeletons, Tall Tale Checkpoints and tons of new content is PvE / new player focused. It's because these PvE players who just want to enjoy the atmosphere are generally the ones who pay.
I mean it makes sense. Older and more experienced players are already stacked with nice cosmetics and probably won't spend a lot. This would also explain the REAL reason Arena got removed (obviously not exactly this, but the 2% of playtime excuse is definitely false) because people weren't spending money in it. And it makes sense for newer players to want to spend money as they would want a nicer ship to replace the ugly default one. Obviously I'm not saying older players don't spend money at all, but right now PvPers and Veterans are just being buried underneath PvE stuff, because we ain't profitable.

Yeah sorry about that, I don't even know what I'm talking about anymore. It's just so annoying that this game has fallen into the pit with every other game and become a cash grabby game. At least we don't have loot boxes.

And you have no evidence to back up your claim that it was more than 2% of players playing Arena. You seem to be under the impression that the dev team doesn’t care about their players, when in reality that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
The Sea of Thieves team is as passionate about their players as they are about the game itself. Sure stuff like the Emporium can get oppressive at times but you can tell from all the love and detail that gets poured into the game and it’s community, that Rare cares a lot.

Correct, I don't remember the exact details for each year. But for this year, the messaging should have been more clear and the window to obtain the anniversary items should have been a much larger window, plus to have the expiration time on Monday 10am GMT. What about the rest of the world?
