End game = Fashion

I've always thought that for a "cosmetics-only" game this game is thoroughly lacking in the cosmetic department.

IMO they should be churning out clothing items & ship cosmetics (both for shops and the Emporium), but perhaps Rare is just short on ideas or don't have the resources necessary to release items (regularly) on that scale.

Devil's advocate here...if Rare were to give a choice of 1 free pet to every new player in lieu of their ancient coins for that season, would it still be P2W?

It'd be much easier to offer it up front in lieu of receiving ancient coins throughout the season.

@jumli7 You're right, there is grog, but tobacco use, as with gambling have been discussed before with regards to the ESRB and the ratings in different countries.

OR... Rare just might not like it and as a result haven't done it! Who knows?

No they wouldn’t. They would give everyone a bland generic pet that doesn’t look anything like the current pets they have now.

If Rare picked one of the random pets that exists now and gives it to everyone then rare would have to refund ancient coins to everyone who bought that exact pet

I would love to see pets do something but I’m happy with the way they are now. I do wish that Rare would fix it so I don’t have to pull out my pets each time I start a new session. Sometimes I forget to summon my pet when I start a game and because of that I hardly ever use my pets

Fair. I was mostly just playing Devil's advocate. I'm fine with pets staying the same as they are today.

I just wish they would take the same approach to picking up pets that they did with sitting in the rowboat...make it a hold to grab!!!!

The number of times I grab my pet in the heat of a battle when trying to tack sails, raise sails, grab helm, etc. is super annoying...and it's the reason I almost never have my pets out.

I will admit that is a problem. The pets get too close sometimes especially when I’m handing in treasure or if I’m in combat as well. I have dismissed my pets because they sometimes get in the way. It would be nice if they gave us some distance or a different button to interact with the pets

Love it all, except:

• pets can't help - already been said, but its P2W
• Smoking or the like isn't allowed as it promotes tobacco (changes ESRB rating)
• No ninja outfits - the skins in COD like this caused enough drama, let alone how dark this game can get at night!

They should have one of each pet type as a reward for Tall Tales. Then they could add more functionality to the pets.

The problem lies in the mechanic of a pet being useful. If a pet has a useful mechanic, then it kind of incentivizes every pirate to equip a pet because you'd otherwise be at a disadvantage without 1. This means you wouldn't have a Sea of Thieves, but rather a Zoo of Thieves.

As long as the function is not something critical, I think it'd be fine. Especially if it's something that can help out new players.

Like if they could help with Riddles or X marks the spot locations....like after a certain amount of time on an island, you could interact with your pet and ask it to help find a riddle clue, or guide you to an X.

Again...not something critical, but something that would help new players get acclimated to the game without having to resort to RareThief/YouTube/Reddit/etc.

I don't want the game turning into Fortnite but I do agree it would be nice to have more options especially for regular old shirts. I only have like 8 to choose from.

It's funny because the dev's are simultaneously "adding too many cosmetics and not fixing hitreg", at the same time as "not adding enough cosmetics" :)

There needs to be some kind of balance as they only have so many teams and man power available. I'd much prefer that artist's time was spent on things like the shrines than cosmetics for the emporium or shops.

I agree that they should add more end game clothing, but some of your ideas don't really fit into the Sea of Thieves world. Also pets should never help in anyway due to them being paid for.

@mintharp184509 yes it is possible to get pets through ancient coins from season passes and ancient skeletons, but you can also just spend money making it pay to win which even if it wasn't pay to win part of Sea of Thieves is that all players are on an even playing field for everything, there isn't anything thing you can get that is just a straight buff. Except for Dark Adventurer sails, but that is just a cosmetic advantage not a buff.
