I was in game earlier with a friend doing a 2-man Sloop.
We were minding our own business when another Sloop was seen on the horizon. Preferring to not engage at that time (we had a hoard of booty), we decided to weigh anchor and depart with expedience.
This was when things started to get a bit interesting.
The vessel that was in pursuit managed to not only keep right on our heels, they managed to catch up to us, and almost pass us, heading into the wind with their sails un-adjusted.
So, being the scurvy dogs we were, we decided to bring the pain.
I immediately jumped ship and boarded theirs. I took both players out with some well timed shots from the blunderbuss, while I scarfed nanners and dropped their anchor to make them delay.
When they re-spawned, I tried to occupy them for another moment to allow as much time for my companion to get away, but they inevitably killed me.
When I respawned, I saw that they had (again) caught up to my friend... Who never stopped sailing during my buccaneer escapades.
We decided at this point to just try to lose them and sell our loot. We headed over to Plunder Outpost and I managed to sell one of our skulls we had collected.
They, again, caught us and rammed us into shore.
We managed to slip behind them and drop anchor while they were doing ... things?
We parked directly behind them and proceeded to empty (literally) 40~ cannons DIRECTLY INTO THEIR HULL, BELOW THE FABLED WATER LINE.
This had no effect on their magically imbued Titanium amalgam alloy.
They would then simply swim to our shop, board, get shot (by blunderbusses from both myself and my crewmate) to which they chortled and poked me with their sword. I died immediately.
This happened for about 10 minutes, until I gave up and logged off the game.
I wasn't able to save my nVidia ShadowPlay (its such an amazing app, it works all the time!) so I cannot get the name of the second person, but the one I was able to remember is:

Sea of Thieves already has hackers, offering a compelling case against cross-play
