Crew sizes too small ( Cannot group up as a guild)

  • Hi

A few issues with this so far , I'm a friendly guy I have a lot of friends (not just the ones in my head but RL too) Issue is we can only have 4 per crew per server leaving others left out.

This also severely limits clan / guild activity . yes you probably could server hop and eventually find each other but then that would just limit your PVP experience.

Can we up galleon crews or specifically have a guild group ship / sloop that allows a few more players.

The slight negative to this is people will be complaining about premades or guild groups however this should alleviate the problem :-

    1. Add weight to speed ratio , got more crew? ship moves slower by 5 - 10 % per added crew member
    2. Slightly increase respawn time

    Just a thought

  • The crews are the way they are because of balancing. A galleon with 5-8 crew members would be waaay to powerful. Imagine every sail spot covered, every cannon maned and prepped. That's four cannons bearing down on a sloop that only has one cannon per side.

As for guilds on one server, that would just be unfun for those playing with randoms. I did hear rumors that when servers expand, they might add such a feature, but that's just forum talk.

  • I agree that that Crew sizes are too small. Maybe it's possible to make a server with only big ships for a crew of 10 people. That would be nice, because than there are no sloops and there's more combat whats much funier with more crewmembers.

  • Nah that's tipping the scales too much towards galleons if a sloop met a galleon like that it would sink before it could even sail away

( I know because we did this with a fellow galleon crew we made friends with in the beta its severely overpowered)

I agree to that as well, especially when it will come the chance of Sea Raids.....I imagine that Merchant Convoys won't be small and not a easy task. I think that the Harpoon Gun, one of the announced future weapons, would be perfect for bording enemy ships on naval battles, not to mention a Rostrum, perfect when you want to ram big ships with a small one......and I agree that Crew sizes are too small.....perhaps they should add more ships on the game like the Brigantine, the Man-of-War, the Cog and resize a little bit the Galleon.....we all know that class of ship was a monster during the era of Pirates.....

  • @slightlymadz Simple response: No

  • This isnt a mmorpg, people are already crying over being grieved because they cant scuttle their pride. Now imagine a alliance with 20 members zerging and roaming the server.

  • @padd While I agree with you, a response is best paired with a reason. A hamburger is better with all the toppings, you know?

  • @finanzminister Oh c****t please no.

  • @gamcheongsaeg a galleon cannot catch a sloop so its not OP

  • @finanzminister I'm not saying 20 + I'm saying 8 max

bottom line is why do people buy a sandbox open world PVP pirate game and then cry ?

Its like joining a boxing gym then crying because you got punched

  • @roger070901 That's a great idea also maybe a battle royale mode

I think it should be risk vs reward

PVE = least risk least reward

  • @slightlymadz then your using the galleon wrong.

  • @slightlymadz well i am eve online gamer for years and i can live with harsh pvp.

  • @slightlymadz A galleon very much CAN reach a sloop if it has all three sails full, and angled into the wind properly. It however cannot turn as fast, so it depends on if the sloop is going with or against the wind, making sharp rounds around islands, or whatever.

I've done it several times when a sloop won't sail against the wind properly, it doesn't usually end well for the little guy.

  • @dracoryx Again comes down to player knowledge and skill , with the correct skill a sloop will always get away unless they make a dumb mistake

I have never been caught yet so they all must be playing wrong

  • @padd great response I'm guessing your one of the PVE`rs

  • @slightlymadz 3 sail very much can catch a single sailed sloop. A sloop can out maneuver a galleon, yes, but not outrun.

  • @cptncuttlefish well generally when one gets on my tail I manoeuvre round an island or through gaps in the rocks they usually disappear in the distance.

Amusingly one was so focused on getting me he slammed into the rock and eventually sunk

  • @slightlymadz And that is how a sloop should be played. I was just trying to say you can out right out run a galleon is all. Gotta be slippery.

  • Well, you can just make a seperate server with the new ships with 10 crewmembers. In that server are only that ships with 10 people on it. No sloops. Everyone has the same chances!

  • @slightlymadz Not at all. I just don't want entire servers being controlled by guilds and them attacking the few randoms on them. Terrible idea.

  • @padd guilds would attack guilds I think you would find
