I have seen a lot of mentions in the forum that custom servers/ safer seas fleets (are these the same thing?) are going to be available soon, but whenever I try to find some concrete/ reliable information on the subject, it's either a passing comment in a forum post, or a post from 4 years ago.
Can anyone point me to a recent, reliable source of information (e.g. an announcement/ update video from Rare) that explains what is being made available and when?

Maybe 2 weeks ago on Insiders, a friend and I were having a lot of fun on the custom servers you could play for free!
@lem0n-curry thank you so much for this. Has there been any update since then? Do we have a more specific release date than "early 2026"? Also (pardon my autism/ struggling with ambiguous language) what does "early 2026" mean? Does it just mean the first half of 2026?
@Europa4033 wait really? Do I just need to join insiders? I've considered joining for a while, but my understanding is that I'd need to make room for essentially another copy of Sea of Thieves on my xbox.

Alas, no further updates on the date. I guess when they feel it's ready.

That is correct.
It's already been removed from testing, but I can tell you we had a lot of fun. HitboTC even checked it out during his stream. We couldn't summon world events (the option to do it was greyed out) but we could summon any mob, chest, key, fly around, etc.
