In Crew Battle

  • I have a idea to get a way to alow frendly fire in a crwe to practice pvp or just have fun killing one another. My idea for this is to repurpes the Seadogs tavern so that frendy fire is aktive when you are in the tavern.

  • Problem is that arena inside is for like 99.99% difrent map.

But making 1 spot on map free for all to pvp even inside of crew is awsome indea.

  • I also had this as an idea but they'd also need to implement an individual friendly fire opt out to prevent one person getting spawn killed and revived over and over.

  • @ghost-of-ronin island of TDM with no way on being ressed by crew mate. Basicly we all are each other enemies on enemy ship.

  • This has been suggested before, but it's good to see more people interested in this. If enough people show interest, Rare might consider bringing this into the game.

A simple on/off toggle setting could do the trick. As long as two or more members of the same crew had this setting enabled, they would be able to collide and deal weapon damage to each other (other than the already available methods like blunderbombs, etc). This way, we could practice PvP tactics with our own crew. And once we were done, simply turn it off.
Any members who don't wish to take part into the in-crew pvp simply wouldn't toggle the option on, and the game would continue behaving like usual for them.

  • @ghost-of-ronin All they need to do is have each player have a simple option to enable or disable friendly fire.

I think that having the ability to practice amongst peers is great, and I’d certainly use it. I’m for the idea, and not opposing it at all, but to play devils advocate; there’s a really good chance a lot of people will spend entire sessions “tdming” amongst one another. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily, but I don’t imagine servers full of isolated tdm matches being that exciting?

On one hand, we’ll have the opportunity to get practice in an aspect of combat which isn’t easy to get reps in otherwise, on the other hand, we’ll inevitably have servers full of tdm boats.

....and add a whole bunch of if-then checks to test when a hit does or does not do damage.

  • @eva1977 yeah thats what I was saying

It is a valid concern, but realistically, I don't think it will become an issue where people just stop interacting with each other for PvP at all. TDMers exist and will continue existing. They already gather up on servers in multiple crews, park at an inactive fort and go TDM.
Players who like to fight amongst themselves already do this, and that didn't kill open seas encounters. Same thing can be said about Hourglass. People who just want to quick PvP keep doing Hourglass over and over, and this hasn't killed open seas encounters. So, overall, I think this feature would be a welcome addition without any major core game issues, if done correctly.

@knurd9369 Maybe just consider opt-in users technically the same as alliance crews (pink names)? They're different crews who you can freely do damage to, but you're still able to resurrect them on your ship like same-crew members. I don't know the game code, but this doesn't look terribly hard to implement.
(Though things like alliance 50% reward upon selling, alliance-related commendations and getting the pink flame after dying by a crewmate would still have to be prevented.)

  • @kowg4n The problem with a simple swich is that you can leve it on vor normal pvp and then you are in a lot of truble
