@callmebackdraft
So I'm not allowed to offer my opinion that this tall tale was not fun, however other posts are allowed because they offer positive reviews?
No that is absolutely not what i am saying,
As i stated multiple times it seems to me that this style is just not your thing, that isn’t good or bad that is your experience even though it might initially be (partially) based on a lack of information.
Because, for instance, if from the get go you and your daughter would have known this was only part 1/3 of the complete story that “is this it?!?” Let down would have never taken place, such a let down can really sour someones taste for something and can be hard to come back from.
I also have a strong feeling that you think me and @triheadedmonkey are attacking you or something and i can promise you we are not.
What are you saying here exactly?
I was responding to a specific question you put out there:
Am I missing something or was this tall tale really passable in quality ?
Thats why i stated this initially:
In my opinion you are either missing something OR the gamestyle on which this crossover was based on is just not for you.
And instead of just reiterating my own feelings about the tall tale which i have shared in a couple of posts in this thread i thought about giving some other peoples points of view which are quite elaborate and might convey something i currently am not or simply not able to
Let me add something here: What you quoted is exaggeration/hyperbole. I clearly played the same tall tale you did. I thought such wordplay should go without saying but I'm starting to think you're taking what I wrote more literal than you should.
Flat text can miss alot of context, we dont see eachother i cannot see your general attitude and just have the written word to go off.
This is also why statements like:
This tall tale was not fun.
Come off as harsh and “matter of fact” like, thats why generally when people are writing stuff like this they add “imho”, “in my opinion” or “for me” and stuff like that.
This softens the wording since we only have the flat text and no other context to go off. When we are conversing IRL most of the communication actually happens in the eyes, tone of voice, a persons stance etc etc etc. Words are only about 50% of it all.
Yes generally it can be assumed that when someone says something it is stated as an opinion but in the written word it generally doesn’t work like that and in general i go by the mantra Assumptions are the mother of all f ups, so by trying to adjust the words i type i try to convey the missing context that falls away by only being able to convey my stance in flat text on a screen
