Gamble games! -tavern

  • I was playing sea of thieves when i came up with an idea, i thought mahbe it would be fun if you can gamble in sea of thieves.

I was thinking of a new npc in the tavern maybe "the drunken strager" he is sitting around one of the tables and you can interract with him to play a game. If your alone you play with the npc and if you are with your friends you can play against them as well. I thought it would be fun if you could play for gold or doubloons, at first every player makes a bet and when you win you get the pot!

I was reading "tales from the sea of thieves" and there they discribe a few pirate games so maybe they could add those games!

I think this would be really cool and a fun way to spend your gold with friends or the npc.

I am really curious about your opinions! So let me know what you think😁!

  • See I always thought at some point they would turn the lower bordered up room of the seadogs tavern into a pirate gambling place, where people can gamble away gold to other crews or their own crews.

It would make sense, it's a pirate black market sort of. The bilge rats could even operate their black market from within the pirate casino haha.

    ● lose at a card game against another crew fight it out in arena
    ● run out of gold to wager? Go arena earn more from doing matches

    One can hope though 👀

  • Cool idea but SoT isn't a game where you are supposed to play other games inside of it.

People would end up "afking" on Outposts and since the cap is 6 ships per server it would just make adventure empty.

  • Pretty sure gambling would change the age rating of the game sadly.

  • I think we really need "gambling" We should be able to bet on many things that should be in the game. Like Card games(poker, war, uno, blackjack, liars dice, pirate slots etc), 1 on 1 duels, Crew Battles, Arena Matches, Target Shooting, Cannon Dodging, The knife between the fingers game, Fishing, Ship Racing, Hide and seek, and just betting on anything and everything dangit. I don't need a million cosmetics I can only wear one at a time...

  • Avast ye scurvy scoundrels, Zevaryian is on deck!

So, mini-games, huh? Lemme just tell you...

How FANTASTIC this idea really is!

First off, I'd like to say that I've been craving player trading (which I'll get into in a different post), and one of the first steps of that is being able to transfer currency between players. 'Gambling' could very well be one way to begin the route to player trading, while also adding some immersive features to Sea of Thieves.

Playing dice on a long voyage is something I naturally think of when I think of the word "Pirate". Gambling, betting, rolling dice or playing cards, these are factual things sailors did to pass time throughout history. As for Sea of Thieves, not only would it add that realistic culture to the game, it would provide a nice break from continuously farming gold or doubloons, or trying to grind your way through the Tall Tales or commendations. At the end of the night, before you get off, just imagine being able to have that last little bit of fun gambling some of that(those) hard earned Gold or Doubloons, maybe even Ancient Coins!

That is something I'd be more than willing to get behind! There could even be a whole new section to add to the commendations made specifically for the mini-games. I'll be sure to post up some ideas that I've had for possible dice/card games within Sea of Thieves, for now however, I'd like to just touch on one more thing.

@mferr11 You do have a somewhat valid point while bringing up the rating of the game. I believe it's currently at an E for ages 10 and up, however, bringing in the gambling would force the game's rating up to at least M for mature, ages 17 and up.

That being said, while I would love to see a sort of mini-game series to play, mayyybe the gambling approach isn't the best idea, however there's nothing against just simply including dice or card games. I suppose it's slightly debatable, but neither here nor there.

  • @zevaryian All with you there mate. Fun mini-games to play with your crew while sailing to pass the time? Hell yeah!

  • Yer it would be cool to have a game of cards with ur crew and gamble ur money

  • Gambling would change the age requirement so it can’t be done i am afraid, atm the game is 12+ and gambling iirc should raise it at least to 16+ but the game has already been out for years and been sold with the 12+ age restriction.

  • @mferr11 Strange times we live in, we can murder on the high seas but you better not gamble! Haha.

You are right though. Should do it anyways though. 😂
Few less sqeekers isnt s bad thing. Plus i was playing gta san andreas when i was like a child 😂

  • @knut-skallagrim

    1 year & 8 months~

  • I love this idea! I think it’s just one more thing that they can add to make the game more interactive. I will say I have noticed and increase of dice around in random spots: The emporium, The Maiden Voyage, etc. I’m really hoping this is some foreshadowing!

For those that say that SOT is not a game that is supposed to have games inside it... I’m not sure they have been paying attention since that is exactly what arena is. And fishing. And tall tales. 🤷🏻‍♀️

And as far as the age thing goes I think they can put a disclaimer that is similar to that of other poker like games on Xbox that basically says to check I am over the age of 21.

Would love to see this in the future, Rare!

  • @michav1

Gambling mechanics will adjust the PEGI rating of the game and have it include a gambling tag, which has a broader effect on which markets it can be sold in and the age category will be bumped up to 18/adult, as promoting gambling to minors is illegal in many countries.

Seeing they aim for a Teen rating this just isn't going to happen.

  • what about just giving us dices and cards in the cpts cabin and thats it;) .
