  • @mhulhavhaka Well, then you're gonna have to be patient, because objectives that keep players busy for years take a year to several years to design. : /

  • @sweltering-nick i hope so my friend i will stay waitning in silence , but dosn't mean that we can say how we feel right now...

Rare are a part of Microsoft and it's now only one year until the next generation of consoles will be launching. You have to expect all of those teams that were acquired are now all busy working away on brand new games. I expect Rare to be no different. Sure, this game will continue to plough on for a while, but it can't be everything they are working on.
Sea of thieves best days have been and gone, new games come out and players migrate to them. Just look at the wealth of the gamepass library now compared to one year ago.. So much choice for players.
Enjoy what has been and what is, as many of us have. Nothing lasts forever. This will soon be last gen.

I highly doubt that Sea of Thieves is going to die anytime soon. The biggest hurtle is finding the time to invest in the average play session; after that, it's a great experience to share with friends.

  • @blam320

If you were a Dev team and now had the latest Dev kit for Scarlett, would you be working solely on a game that has long since released on current gen, or would you be secretly deep into development into something new for the next gen as Microsoft needs it's partnerships to develop new exclusive titles for the future of Xbox.

They will just add bits and milk the community from here on in this game. They have pretty much admitted as much in a very recent Dev video, if the income is there, they will add more. Once it stops, so will this game.
    The future is something else.
Maybe X019 we will learn more about what Microsoft's development teams are now working on.

  • @MhuLhaVhaka Please refrain from name calling, personal attacks, and derogatory language in your posts. It is a violation of our forum rules, and we have edited your post accordingly.

Be courteous. Don’t insult players you don’t know. If humour is the intent, remember that this can be lost or misinterpreted online, and words can very easily offend. Be mindful of what you’re saying and if someone asks a question, see if you can help them out as you’d appreciate being helped out yourself if the roles were reversed.

  • Rare isn't wrong whenever they don't cater to one opinion or taste or wants of any facet of the player-base. I do, however, understand, that the directions they didn't go, don't work well for YOU and those who feel similarly.
We all have to have perspective in that we're not the center of other people's universe, right?

There's one element of this that I think could be a fascinating discussion - if/when people want to have a real discussion:
Why should players who play 8-12 hours per day be catered to more than those who play 1-3 hours or even only play one session, or so per week?

For the record, I am in the first, extreme camp. However, I don't believe it is in the game's best interest to cater to that playstyle. I think we can tend to burn through things too quickly. I think we can tend to get too numb to the thrills of the game. I think we can tend to take it too seriously.
This is a very silly game. And I think many of us may tend to overlook that.
That's just my quick opinion on that though.
I find it interesting how people make divisions about "dedicated" players and "casuals" and how developers should or shouldn't cater to one or the other. I'm not saying I know the answers, or that there necessarily IS a single answer. A company could probably go either way and find success OR failure, independent of which kind of player they focus on more so.

  • I don't play MMOs for a reason; I play SoT for a reason - those reasons are my own, as yours are yours. The solution is simple - if you're not happy, try something else; if you're happy, then sail on!

  • Not gonna lie, ur right the game was a disappointment especially at launch. I thought it was a game where a pirate crew of 4 would do some sicks voyages that were equal to some mini stories that helped build story, b00by trap and platform evading and jumping, and some epic boss battles with a world rich in different enemy types and ships. . . least to say it had none of that either. The devs were very sneaky about this too, which is why I don't trust these devs the way I used too. They were too sneaky about some stuff and the game came out in a bland basic state for a full priced game. With that said, I do appreciate it for what it currently is. It feels like fishing, I'll play it for long periods, put it down and not touch it for ages later. But ill always find myself back for an ocean retreat.

  • @red0demon0

The game was not only released earlier than intended due to Rare being pushed to release it sooner to keep up with other games and companies, but also was intended to evolve greatly over time. Think about it, the game has a 10 year planned lifespan. You can't think that all 10 years worth of content should've been added right at the beginning, and the game not updated past that? It's good in its current state and style. Sure, it might've been good if everything was there from the start, but it wasn't, and the game's still good.

  • @mhulhavhaka I had a stroke while reading this. And just because you ran a community of 100 players doesn't make your views the core of the community.

@needsmokes and sorry for not be ar your side but ... gamepass.? theres only trash game there... play, end the game and unistall, for someone that can be nice... but for us... isn't, i have disposable games...

Just a few I have played in the last few months:

    Hellsblade
    Wolfenstein
    Tomb Raider
    Just Cause 4
    Metro Exodus
    Kingdom Come
    Slay the Spire
    Shadow warrior 2
All of those were very enjoyable.

Now I'm playing The Outer Worlds, installed on the to do list are:
    Black desert
    Blair Witch
    Crackdown 3
    Dishonored 2
    Friday 13th
    Gears 5
    Jump Force
    Monster Hunter World
    Sherlock Holmes
And more indie games I love to sample..

I just can't find the time for it all!!

Gamepass is overwhelming me with great games.. I just don't ever feel the need to buy any anymore.. Unless it is something I really want..

kingdom come deliverance is a masterpiece its better than red dead redemption 2 cause its not casual (dont get me wrong in some points is rdr2 better)

to topic its funny that people think a game that released 20 month ago is old.i just hope sot get a version for xbox scarlett ,i dont also believe rare is working on a new unique title

  • If I'm reading this correctly... you want this game to cater to the 'hardcore' playerbase when it's an easy going adventure pirate game designed to be for all ages.

You want this game to leave behind its soul in place of competitiveness and player progression.

You want to ruin this game for EVERYONE except for those who play this game every day and treat it like a competitive MMO.

I am one of those hardcore players, I am part of this game's community and LOVE how everyone can enjoy this game not just the hardcore players. And if people like you are slamming the game and leaving it behind because it's not what you want; good.

This isn't your game, it's ours, and we're not destroying it to make you happy.

  • @fast-bike94 first... try to write a post in spanish and then we will see how well can you do it... secund we are not the core for number we are part of the core because we are here for the begining and we support the project when no one want SOT...

  • @electricknights we not only play 12 hours, we participate in the forum, participate in his live campain, working with they trying to make this game better and never listen they prefere to listen people how dont care the game like us... that hurts... and the game was better in the begining when casual content was not in game... with all the changes to make happy to the family guys and forgoten the real player, we how start and support the project when no one did.

  • [mod edited]

  • @captn-reaver no my friend i don't want a game for harcores i want a game for all his player base, now only casual and family guys are listend and we the starters aren't listen, my crew and the rest of my community reach pirate legend 8 month after the release since then we only get form rare, more skins, more commeditation and nothing more, then they put a cash shop with what? oh, more skins, more commeditation, it's a joke right? where are the progresion system, where is the insentive for athena's 10 players to keep playing? where is our place, good for you casual how has what you want, we dont have problem with that, insted we are happy for you, but what happen with us? what we do? just leave? that is the easy part and we don't want that, we want to stay and keep loving the game, but help us to, dont attack us.

  • @galactic-geek for you its a simple game that you can leave where you want for us its not, its a place how love in the past, we play SOT for the same rease because its SOT, we don't wanna go we want take part like you do. the easy is killing or erase that you dont like, but its not the better, we want to help, we want to be part...

  • I have mixed feelings in this post. On a side I can see the point on be dissapointed for the evolving of this game, its getting slow, it doesnt improve anything and it's always do the same thing... and in another side I don't feel like the reasons you gave it's the real reason of why this game its not that great. This game never seem to be a progresion game and niehter a MMO, so I think u have a mistaken vision of the game.

By the way, I really do feel the potential of this game is being wasted... It's a pirate world and we look like a delivery service... in EVERY QUEST. And I'm tired to read and hear "you play like that because you want", well... What else im gonna do? Attack other people, YES, and what else??? Keep sailing around? Re-do the Tales?

This game is amazing, with a beautiful world to explore, but we can't explore it, we are there to get gold, and get more gold, and get more gold... to buy cosmetics. Idk... I guess we just need more things to do, and different ways to make thoose diferent thigns to do.

Im not complaining about Rare's effort on always trying to improve the game... but still year 2... and the game has more things than year 1, that's for sure, but still feels kinda empty.

    Yehaaaa!!
Spread the curse in the seas!!

  • @nukdar we dont want an mmo my friend, that its not our goal, we want progresion for all those athenas 10 who don't have nothing more that just chat with old friend on discord, 10 or more lvl for the athena's, not more lvl from doubloons, how do you think i felt when i look my pirate legend status, that was a 8 month work, selling only chikens for months and see that now anyone can be a pirate legend, content reserved only for how take the work of making new friends, how organize is real life to reach is goals on game, not just gifting all the things to all... that its only a part of why we feel sad.

  • @weedstar-deluxe anyone can make a single player game there's no innovation on that... all the good of RRII its lost when you see that the campain can't be made in coop, what was that a 90's game? the future its online, persistent and massive. look what star citizen its traing to do, what No Man's Sky did, they transform his single obsolete game and make a beauty multiplayer experience, why, because they are traing to make something new... any how are make single player game in the industrie right now its make it wrong, look what scarlet propose, a cloud console, OMG!!! that is future

  • @mhulhavhaka honestly this game is still fun for me. I am a day 1 player. I hit legend in 3 months and a10 in 6 I think. I still play 3 or 4 days a week.

A progression system with stats would ruin this game.
If we get a progression system it's likely to be cosmetic based.

Having fun is the point of this game, not being a pirate legend, or an athena 10, etc.

  • @mhulhavhaka

I think, in essence, of what you are trying to get across is the current level cap is set too low?

Level 50 on all factions is now very easy to obtain.
Level 10 Athena is no longer a challenge.
    And what's left after that??
More of the same rinse and repeat do anything for the sake of it.

Myself, I would probably play more often if the current level caps were removed and set at 500 or infinite.
Because apart from having a little fun playing a great game here and there with friends, I see no point in logging in to this game anymore.

Not everyone plays like that I understand, but once I feel like I have completed a game, I soon lose interest in playing it more.

The question of removing the level cap has been raised a few times before, but never had any official response about it.

  • @captain-coel ok, im agree with you, we don't have problem with the non stat progression system, but now nothing of that its on game, now there's only things for new player, for console players, we need a little goal to have fun, we rich all our goals theres nothing for us... can you try to put in our shoes for a moment, and trying to be more empathic, if you are happy cool, we are happy to for you, but we, what we do,
    kill ourselves?

  • @needsmokes that is the point, theres people how love simple things other like us we need something to work for, where is that in the game, theres not, an infinity lvl of rep its a really good sys...

  • @captain-coel another think, ok, lets have this skin progressión sys, but what happen with us how has all the skin?

  • @mhulhavhaka I own all the cosmetics I'm just playing for fun. that's what the game is for. Why do you need something to earn?
