I feel bad for all the long term players that have used majority of their doubloons on items in the game and then Rare announces theyll be taking away all their hard earned/stolen loot then proceed to tell them you can get products for 54 thousand. Kinda a punch in the face for a game that talks about caring for the community.
Should be community event to get these items, NOT were gonna take all your hours/days of work and maybe you might get a item if you spend moreeeeee time on the game.
It's a sad situation, but your progress isn't deleted, just converted.
All doubloons not spent on items before the reset (may it be the special items or the outpost items that you can purchase for gold after the reset) will automatically be converted to gold at April 16th. You can also always do so with Larinna before the reset.
Let's hope the reset leads to the exciting "Let's earn Doubloons together" gameplay events Rare hopes for with this decision.

They've changed it now where it's the total amount of doubloons earned on your character, regardless of how much you currently have.
If you've earned 50k since creating your character, you'll get the sword.
@mr-nismox As someone with over 350,000 Doubloon's I don't mind the system going away, but the lack of respect shown to long terms players is pathetic.
Wow a 50K forgettable sword.
Sadly this is exactly how I expect RARE to do things. A real attempt at this would have broken players into percentiles top 5% Figurehead top 10% Sails hay and show the respect and make them only equitable by the owner.
Then again this is RARE why expect them to show any respect to the players.

they are deleting our doubloons i dont think they said they were also removing the cosmetics we already purchased with them. that would be more than a kick in the balls it would be straigt up cutting them off. but the fact the reason they are doing it is to just force people to have to grind when the items are added but they are also giving you enough to buy everything. so whats the point in the deletion in the first place? a lazy way of forcing us to pve because the next update has no pve content?

plenty of butter suggestions have been made. but we the players ar dum. devs are smart. so our opinion means nothing

@burnbacon a simple way for them to have done this doubloon rework:
The GMU has found a way to enter the sea of thieves and they are planning their invasion.
During this time you can preemptively show your loyalty to the GMU by investing your doubloons now
Alternatively if you want to make it harder for the GMU you can help the factions present in the sea of thieves by giving them your doubloons
You have until x time to make your choice after which the undoublooning will happen anyways for whatever reason
Anyway simple setup to make it tie into lore instead of just saying we need them gone suck it up.
Imagined by one person in about 5 minutes that isnt getting payed for doing so imagine if you let actual devs think about it abit longer
