skull of siren song revamp.

  • I vote on this every game as it was some of the best PVP but do not go for it unless another crew on the server is also after it. But this rarely happens. To increase buy in we have a couple of options that can be done separately or as a combination.

    1. Add a stolen skull accomodation, similar to stealing a chest of legends. This would give players something to aim for who have completed the challenge already. Extra rep for guilds.

    2. Have some sort of indicaton to the number of crews who have voted to do the quest. This could be as simiple as a number when you look at a map and the beacon changing color or on your mast under the quest, add a ring for every crew on the server who have voted to do it.

    3. Don't start the quest until at least two ships have voted to get the skull. If you are first in, bridgy will apear and an alternative message will occur, thanks for coming to my aid, as soon as i get the maps I will give them to you.

    4. Make a raid voyage, you dive and it adds two or more crews to a new server.

  • indicaton to the number of crews who have voted to do the quest.

Why would you wanna know, and that kind of defeats the whole "Unknown" of is if your doing the voyage alone or someone waiting for you at the finish line :P

Don't start the quest until at least two ships have voted to get the skull.

Nope. Some people like how you can start it freely

Make a raid voyage, you dive and it adds two or more crews to a new server.

It suppose to be one of those "rare" voyages that pops up. Not on demand.

  • Number of crews. Pretty obvoius, as a solo mission this voyage is not that fun. If you knew a fight was on the cards this would increase buy in instead of two or more crews all wanting to contest it but not wasting time on it.

You can still start it, but this ensures that it is contested, if Rare wanted it to be a solo mission then it would be in safer seas.

It is not rare at all, but who said it it would be on demand? The voyage would still randomly spawn, but this would be on all servers at once. The spawn rate would be same except instead of the skull spawning on your current server, you dive for it instead, puting two or more crews on a new server.

  • @miserenz

You forget how many players start it to know where to avoid.

Seeing 5 ships participating I'd be less likely to go for it.

  • @miserenz If everyone votes on it but waits until someone else grabs the first item like you prefer to do, then no one will end up doing it. Perhaps you can jump start your server by being the one to grab the first item and then do other voyages while you wait for others to come to you or grab the second item.

    Regarding your four recommendations:

    1. I am okay with this idea, but it might lead to the same situation you are in. Everyone waiting for someone else to do the voyage, so they can be the one to make the steal. The first crew wouldn't get the steal unless they got it back.
    2. This would not really give an indication of how many will be fighting for it. Some crews opt in just for situational awareness.
    3. While the goal is to increase PvP interaction, it is still ultimately a PvPvE voyage, not HG. Crews should not be prevented from embarking on it just because there is no one on the server wanting to contest it with them.
    4. I am not sure if this would work effectively. If you opt in, but no one else does within a certain time around you, would you just be stuck in the tunnel waiting for others to opt in to the raid? If you continue sailing until someone else opts in so you can dive, you might end up in an organic fight and have the voyage cancelled.

    Just my two gold coins.

  • Imo the most realistic and most effective thing is just to add to the commendation like the cof.

Turn in 30 a season and then just work siren skull into events throughout the season

    Nothing super grindy.

I'm not nearly as critical of siren song as some, I think it's largely done as well as it could in the environment we play in.

"Stolen" doesn't really work well in this game. It just gets cheesy and difficult for people that play organically and rely on the activity of others.

Raid voyage is interesting, dunno if it would ever become much but I like the idea of working it into a raid somehow.

  • @pithyrumble

I do not get your first sentence at all. More over if no one is doing it these days who are you avoiding?

If only 5 ships were going for it! Out of all of the voyages it is the most PVP focused. So really if you want to chicken out then that is on you.

  • I think the thing that I find interesting about many of the requests to make this or that relevant can ultimately be distilled to PvEvP'ers wanting more organic PvP on the seas. I find it interesting because this can be solved in two other ways: fixing the engine so six ships can exist on a server again so you'll get the PvP you want regardless of the voyage you're on, or making passive hourglass worth doing for one reason or another.

Ultimately, the Skull of Siren Song is dead because everyone who wants the commendation has it by now. I just want that eyesore removed from my my mast, so please make it an Order of Souls voyage.

  • @regiomontanus

    1. My guess, especially with PS5 players incoming, there will be players who need the skulls no matter what. That is also why I think extra guild rep is required for those who already have it.
    2. True but better than nothing
    3. This is a matter of opinion and I respect yours on this. However, out of all of the voyages this one is more geared towards PVPVE, hence why it is not in safer seas.
    4. There could be a timer set up for this. So you dive and within 2-3 min if no other players have voted on the voyage you spawn into a server. This would maximize the chances of getting the PVPVE
