Tavern Tunes - Stitcher’s Sorrow - the story behind the tune!

  • As always, to add some more depth we barged into composer Robin Beanland's office, got him talking and stealthily transcribed his thoughts for public distribution:

  • Wow, now that's what i call a Great Informative Read...i always like to read about the idea behind a piece of Music or Song. It gives us a bit of the idea behind the creation of something. And like always, Rare hit the head of the nail with Perfection...Musical Genius behind the instruments and then that great fitting, almost broken voice...Britain runs simply over from Talent , and the best part : They aren't even arrogant about it , they stay humble and squeeze out Masterpiece after Masterpiece out of their brains, Heart and fingers...
Mr Beanland is one of the most underestimated Music composers that roam around, his Music can stand, without any problem , against Movie score Giants like Mr Howard Shore or Mr John Williams...

Music has always been a maker or a breaker in movies, series and games and Mr Duncan can kiss Old God on both wingnut ears for bringing Mr Beanland in Rare's Life...The way that he altered those Pirate Folky songs towards real Christmas Gems...Man, certainly during this weekend , a few lonely Pirates will wipe a tear away when they sit down the Tavern for a few minutes and opening their Hearts while they are at there...And not only those songs, you can find so many other hidden musical Gems there , in the game or on or under the Sea...Rare translated Magic, for some , into a game but Mr Beanland and his team have even lifted that Level higher because of many , many Great Pieces of Music...It has touched many of Hearts simply, because it was made from the Heart...His Heart...Great work , and oooh, am i looking forward to what this Musicnote Conjuror will bring in 2019...

It's like if his Inspiration never dries out...And i truely hope it never does...

  • We already knew from his showreel that he could sing, and as he performed we recorded facial capture too – this was all sent over to Realtime to build out the scene of Jim in his rowboat for the trailer.

This intrigues me so much, I wonder all the time if they are using motion capture for the movements of their characters that seem so natural. Especially for every in-game animation or the video trailers with Merrick or DeMarco! Would love so much to have a little behind the scenes video on that :D

  • @clumsy-george

I know what you mean, I noticed some links at the bottom there and have been reading all the previous pages too, fascinating stuff! :D

  • Love it, even more reason to add the violin.

Here's the website of the company where you can find out a bit more about the work they did with Sea of Thieves trailers -

  • Beanland has mad skills when it comes to composing music.

  • Thank you @katttruewalker, that's really interesting and fascinating what technology can do now!

This would be such an exciting challenge to make a film in the world of Sea of Thieves in this way, maybe one day?

  • @katttruewalker aye nice
