Cursed Cannonballs Need To Go (At least the greens)

  • Haven't played SoTs since the launch of the new expansion of World of Warcraft, and tonight I just hopped back on.
I like alot of the changes, the game feels much smoother, and the inventory system is pretty nifty although it took a second to get used to.

However, after playing for a couple hours I noticed that ships would almost never engage, and when they did, they hit you with every Cursed Cannonball there was.
Very disappointing to see the naval combat take such a horrible turn.

Either I'm chasing them forever, or one of us sinks the other far too fast to have any satisfaction out of it.
Not to mention as a primary solo player, these Cannonballs are just unnecessarily rough.
I'm extremely glad I didn't play for the last month and a half because if I had, I would have probably grown to dislike the game with the Cursed Cannonballs in the their current state.

Having played through the Cursed Sails event with all the Skeleton Ships, the Cursed Cannonballs aren't entirely new to me.

    Suggestions:
Any single one or all of these.

    • Remove the Green cannonballs.
    • Allow Cursed Cannonballs to only spawn on Skeleton Ships (or less commonly at Forts)
    • Allow a maximum of 10 total Cursed Cannonballs of all combined varieties to be carried on a person at one time, and a total of 10 per barrel on the ship.
    • Global diminishing returns on the ship hit with the Cursed Cannonball. All types of Cursed Cannonballs would contribute to the same diminishing return. After 30 sec to a minute, the diminishing returns would be reset.

The last bit are just my personal suggestions, the first part of this post is what I'd like to focus on here.
Please let me know your thoughts or if you have any better ideas.
    Thank you for your time!

First of all welcome back landlobber! :P

The cursed cannonballs can be an a*s, although the cursed sails event is still running (for 4 weeks atm). Today we will get the Forsaken Shores update and i presume the spawnrate of the CCB's will be alot less.
(as we saw with all the stuff of the old events when they stopped).

I presume that will mean less Ccb's on the ships, so the crews have to "plan" either use or not use a ccb.

My crew in general uses 1 or 2 ccb's on the start off a fight, which in general are anchor / rigging and or balastbal (depending on the ship). Afterwards we in general just use regular balls, cause we want to have fun aswell instead off sinking the crew instantly :)

  • @nessiroj cursed crews not cursed sails,

@Ultimate-Powa and i approve the message my captain above has left behind for you.

We get barraged by ccb’s often and have never been taken down by them, why ?
Players seem to think that ccb’s will do all the work for them, which is not true.

It is up to the crew to capitalize on the effect, as @Nessiroj we use two or three ccb’s TOPS and make sure one or two of our crew are ready to capitalize on our efforts.

What alot of players seem to forget to do is try and establish roles aboard their ship and within their crew:

    As we are usually a crew of 4 we divide the roles based on skill;

@Nessiroj our ever calm and collected captain
@mark147258 our jack of all trades with first responsibility of repairman
@DarkMage613 boarding party/first line of defense
@CallMeBackdraft boarding part/first line of defens

If roles are divided and you make sure your crew never is too close to one another ccb’s can be countered easily.

For smaller crews: be on the lookout to where the ccb is going to hit and if green run away from the imminent impact zone to try and prevent the effect from taking hold on you
