Leave a Message on the Ferry of the Damned

  • First off I posted this to the subreddit and was told to post here

I think a simple solution to making multicrew events a little more possible is to have an option to leave a note in the Ferry of the Damned. There's a lot of other ways it could be used too. Any message you make would diappear if you log off.

Maybe keep it to a predefined chat wheel of options that could leave your name signed in case they want to invite to party chat or something. This would help you avoid getting a lot of "git gud" messages -u/Reavantos

    • "LFM Powder Keg Plot @ fort w/ shark sails -signed w42mup"
    • (insert taunting message for pvp)
    • "Will trade Villainous Bounty Skull if you sink (player who sank my ship)" - u/gugudan

  • @w42mup Thanks for posting here :) We are a smaller community than the subreddit but I wanted everyone who visits here to see it as well because it's a really great idea.

My only suggestion is not to put it on the actual door itself because then you can't see them when the door opens. Perhaps they go under the note about skuttling your ship? Or on the other side of the door opposite of that note?

Also, if there is a problem with the number of notes I suppose they could limit it to 1 per crew?

  • If they do add that I’m just going to write stupid stuff like “Get out of here Stinkybeard!”. I completely support this idea but for a different reason ;).

  • i like the idea, i'd probably prefer to have it on some board at the docks, or near tavern. this way I'd have to die first to even know about someone looking for help.

  • @sir-lotus At a dock would prob be better but it would have to be server wide messages, so post at one dock and it posts at them all?

  • @xcalypt0x Yea I just grabbed a couple junk images to get the idea across. The door prob isnt the spot. Maybe that center mast on the Ferry?

  • This could work, I like it

  • @w42mup That was actually my first thought but I wasn't sure if people would notice it in their rush to the door to respawn. Would be an excellent job for the pioneers to test!

@sir-lotus As for the docks, that could also work as long as it's replicated to each dock like you mentioned. Wherever it goes, it needs to be somewhere that players will be able to see it easily, IMO.

  • @w42mup exactly. and if you put a small cage with a homing pigeon next to it, noone could argue about why it is posted on all outposts.

  • I think global outpost noticeboards would be the best fix for this... and link them into the LFG section of Xbox so they magically appear as crew required messages on the board stylized.

  • I want to see this, cracking idea! Could almost see it working in similar vein to the Miiverse posts on Splatoon.

Rare did mention that they were looking for ways to provide us with more tools in order to make working with other crews on events easier. This is, in my opinion, the best way to do it and also fits thematically.

  • I think this would be a good addition to taverns as well. That way you could check for notices right when you spawn into the game. Maybe these posts could appear in multiple locations

  • Excellent suggestion! Would love to see something like this in game. Not to be the nay sayer as I truly like this idea. My only concern is it may make fleets to easy to accumulate. Let’s be honest being on the bad end of the getting ganged up on stick will not be enjoyable to anyone ever.

  • @sir-lotus Oh nice idea with the pigeons!

  • @W42mup This is a similar topic I posted a few hours ago. About having a message board up at all outposts. I think it is a great idea especially for the players who have limited time to play at a time. I cant always sail around for hours to find someone to team up with.
