So I had an experience at a ghost fleet where multiple other events (kraken, meg, and skeleton ship) all attacked at around the same time. I believe that this should not be possible, if I'm doing a other world event, I shouldn't have any other events spawning on me.

Explain why this shouldnt happen? It open world and it creates a more exciting and less stale fight. Instead of you and skeleton ships which you know the pattern, now you have extra threats to increase the difficulty.
As well, often, Skeleton ships attack Megs and Kraken. It funny to see Meg defeated by skeleton galleon or Meg sinking Skeletons.
It does feel unfair especially as a solo when multiple PvE attacks effectively just to grief the loot of the other - or sometimes to overwhelm you.
Skelly Fleet, Storm and Kraken was my most egregious session ender - storm making targeting of the kraken tentacles impossible.'Get Rared'
The Skelly, Meg, Skelly combos are fun, as are Skelly gally, Meg, kraken.
It’s either maybe limit some of the things spawning or maybe turn down the accuracy. I cannot tell you the amount of times a lucky/bs 1 ball caused me to sink. It’s not “hard” to fight all of that, until you die and can’t keep up with buckets
