More control of our own ships.

  • Everybody wants to sail on galleon, because that's a feeling of power. However what if you don't have enough friends who would play with you? Or just looking for new people on open crew? Because you are tired of looking for captained open crew, you sail your own galleon and let open crew enabled. But what if some toxic people will join. You don't have any power of your own ship and they can even overvote you!

I suggest to add kick option. Voting for that as a crew could be good somehow. But what if you are on galleon with your friend and two toxic people join?
I suggest to give a kick option for a captain on his own ship, and voting for kicking when ship is not captained.

All games have option to kick someone from your lobby, why doesn't sea of thieves? Why can't we have our own ship under control?
Lock them in brig is not enough, they can still profit from our hard work, and block a spot for another guys we need when in fight for instance.

  • No.

    See:

    https://www.seaofthieves.com/community/forums/topic/179036/boat-captains-should-be-able-to-kick-random-toxic-players/

    https://www.seaofthieves.com/community/forums/topic/179972/it-s-about-time-y-all-add-a-vote-to-kick-button/

  • @lem0n-curry So we better don't add it even when all games have some kind of kicking. These types of people exists of course, but still meeting more people who are toxic and will be in brig for hours instead of leaving. Agree with your arguments, but still some kind of kicking needs to be added!

  • No thanks. Open to abuse and it would happen, bad idea.

  • @tesiccl Kick option has to be added, just like in other games. What to do with people who will join you and you losing whole control of your own ship? Brig? That's nice but they will get all profits for nothing and block the spot for another guys. Why you all don't even think about it, all games have it, why sea of thieves not. Simple!

  • Kick option has to be added, just like in other games.

But what Other games can you name, that is Similar to SoT? Not many...most are in fact MP yes but not Open World.

What to do with people who will join you and you losing whole control of your own ship?

How do you lose control? Frankly, It doesnt matter, every crew member is Equal and everyone should manage the ship. So far, you havnt said what "Toxic" thing they did.

you can think more Cons than pros for this. Captains are more names in title, not power.

Lock them in brig is not enough, they can still profit from our hard work

Thus, do what most do. Dumb the Load, set ship to sail into Red Sea and..once it sinks with them still inside. Log off/switch servers.
Very simple. Also: Looking For Group instead of Open Crew.

Why not start another vessel if you have a toxic person in the brig for hours ? Surely there is some loss restarting a session, but does spending 5 minutes restocking weigh against being a person down (as they're in the brig) for such a long time ?

Are these games with sessions of say half an hour or so, while you could easily spend 2-3 hours in a session in SoT and then getting kicked out of the crew because they have a friend or an alt account they want the gold & rep ?

Do you think a person getting kicked after such a long session will play open crew as part of another pirate's cpatained ship again ?

  • @ninja-cz-9227 can you give me examples of other games like SoT that employ forcibly removing players from the game when one person/team doesn’t want them there?

  • I dont want to sail a galleon.

  • It's not your ship, you aren't the captain, and its not your open lobby.

It's a shared democratic ship, there is no captain, and it's a public lobby.

  • People say that a kick option would be abused, but that's such a dumb thing to think when we can already see that the system is abused by people to intentionally sabotage other players so often than a majority of the playerbase just doesn't interact with open crew literally at all. Right now it's worse than ever. They can use the new giga keg to just nuke your boat and log off after repeatedly blunderbombing you off repairs. I doubt it would be used to kick people for someone else gain more than people using it to kick AFKers/ keg trolls.

  • @the-old-soul800 I paid hundreds of thousands of gold for the ship, the game calls it a "captained ship" and I can buy captaincy supplies for it. Yeah, that's my damn ship. You don't get to log on with my ship. If I log off, the ship comes with me. If you want my ship, you can't get it without me. The amount of times people in open crew have just tried to keg our boat or stand there jiggling the controller every few minutes instead of doing anything has made me abandon the mode. I'm a roleplayer, my favourite thing in this game is how well you can roleplay. Meeting people is the best way to roleplay. I would meet easily 50x more people if there was an option to remove toxic players because I would actually play open crew again.

  • Unfortunately they probably won't add it but there's better ways of finding crews. Open crew is widely known to be a crapshoot. You don't usually join one looking to actually get anything productive done, and if something productive does happens it's an exception.

The SOT discord is much better at finding people to fill a ship who have similar goals and are like-minded to you.

Well, i always report these people, and rare won't do anything just like when reporting cheaters, so that's not that helpful advice.

That's kinda funny since it's my ship I bought for my money, and even in-game it's called a captained ship.
Sailing on my vessel, so it should be my decision who will be there and who won't.
Someone has to leave, then we have a free spot, so we try an open crew, but what if some toxic guy will join? What do we do except locking him, because he sabotage everything?

Please think about it, if someone would want to be sure they won't kick him, then he could join non-captained ship - and that's my point.

  • @potatosord
Thanks for support, that is exactly what I mean. It's my damn ship, don't you get it all?

  • @ninja-cz-9227
Selecting open crew on the ship you purchased does not mean you are captaining your ship in an open lobby.
It means you willingly submitted your ship to the democratic practice of playing in a public lobby where it's a shared ship, not yours, with no captain, forfeiting the role of leader. Forfeiting your say in who gets to be there.
It is your decision, in that if you want to have a say you have the option to not enter a public lobby.
That is where this starts and ends.

  • @poetniknowit
I agree with you and I search for people there.
But whole my friendlist was created because of open crew, my whole guild is just full of people we met in open crew.
Open Crew has the atmosphere i can't describe, the feeling you don't know who will join, the possibility of becoming friends there - it has something that sot discord doesn't.

But still my ship I paid a lot of coins, some ancient coins and even soul.
Then I do open crew and just one guy will blow up my ship because we 3 didn't listen to him what he wanted, and he will just say "but it's not your ship, and you don't decide here" - and i mean what is that? Not my ship?

So let me tell you one thing
Someone pays rare for ancient coins to built a really nice ship, and then people like you and even rare says, but it's not your ship?!

  • @the-old-soul800

  • @ninja-cz-9227
    That's correct.
Rare tells you very clearly that ones you let other people in the crew, it's not your ship. It's the crews. Democratically.
