Reduce miles for these trinkets (pvp)

  • It's not the first time I've asked this but nothing has changed, so... Reduce the miles required to get the last grade of these paints, Victory Through Valour and Sailing for Glory, from 30 to 10 each.

    Each grade would be unlocked with 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10

Currently they are obtained by sinking 60 champions. The problem is that sinking champions is more a matter of luck than effort, especially for some categories(solo sloop) or regions.

    To list the difficulties:

    • The vast majority of people do not remain or even reach champion status.

    • Even if there is a champion in the queue, if he is from the same faction as you, he will not be used to increase the mile.

    • If you sink it, you will hardly find another champion on the same day or time, depending on the region. (I'm not sure about matchmaking after the latest changes but it hardly changed that specific point)

    • 20 champions is a good mark to unlock these trinkets that I believe were never intended to be so difficult to achieve.

To specify how much I played and how many champions I sunk... I'm around level 1475 and 1225 and I sunk about 12 champions of each on solo sloop SA servers.

Doubt they'll do this after their last stance on commendation adjustments for this past season.

They acknowledged the commendations were too tedious/high, but said they wouldn't change it out of respect for the players who grinded them; which I think is a good thing overall.

Also I might be wrong, but I think they lowered the number for these already in the past, I know they lowered requirements for all trinkets a while back.

Getting out of solos would prolly get you these faster, idk what SA servers are like though. You could also intentionally boost players to champion on solos if you fight the same guy a lot.

I found this decision completely senseless, they have been making everything easy all these years, instead of correcting it again and working to ensure this balance problem doesn't occur in the future, they prefer to simply ignore it.

Also I might be wrong, but I think they lowered the number for these already in the past, I know they lowered requirements for all trinkets a while back.

They reduced the captaincy miles twice, once in season 7 before the hourglass was released and once after, changing the requirements to get a class and the maximum number of classes from 100 to 30

For most things, progress became easy/balanced... a few things remained difficult/very difficult. But the problem with the ones I mentioned in the thread is that they depend more on luck than effort, and they end up requiring "tricks" to be achieved, such as changing regions, changing ship classes, or the strategy you mentioned, and still depend heavily on luck. I believe that with the numbers I suggested, they would not only be more accessible to everyone but would also make it possible to achieve them naturally.

After all, getting these trinkets isn't expected to be any harder than the golden curses.

Getting out of solos would prolly get you these faster, idk what SA servers are like though. You could also intentionally boost players to champion on solos if you fight the same guy a lot.

If they don't decrease maybe I'll try that someday, but honestly it's a lot of effort for a reward that isn't really worth it, even though they're the only trinkets left to buy, playing solo sloop it's likely that I'll have to go up to level 2000 just to get them and that doesn't make much sense to me.

Yeah I wouldn't really care if they lowered requirements for these, or any trinket really, and I agree it sucks to be at 2.7k ally and still not have it.

In general, I don't think it's a bad thing when Rare chooses to respect player time commitment. Retconning the requirements just breeds resentment in the most dedicated portion of the player base, the people who spend days grinding this stuff in the first week of a new season.

On this specifically, I wouldn't care either way, I just don't think they will unless they head in a completely different direction development-wise. It would be sending mixed messages
