@reverend-toast said in "Its Free" is not an excuse for mediocre game design.:
Guilds is way more than a tacked on UI.
Show me how this is going to get thousands of players back to do the same voyages over and over again.
Every game is basically doing the same thing over and over again. Fortnite, Doom, Halo, etc.
Sure, lets pull out competitive shooters with ranked events and thousands of dollars into community made events on the line..
I wouldn't doubt that there are other unannounced things being considered. (Again: there are 6 ships on the sea, and 6 sea fortresses... could easily see these become guild hangouts, and the mechanics are currently in the game to allow ships to merge into servers... so I could se 2 ship guild alliances eventually being a thing).
Ah the carrot on the stick. "More just around the corner".
Common, we've been here for years.. and the slow rollouts are a drag. You know it. Just admit it.
6 ships on the sea? Are you sure about that because they have reduced it to 5 in the past without actually doing the right thing and directly telling us..
Problem with Paid DLC is it would either ruin the concept that the game isn't pay to win, or split the player base like the COD map packs did.
Paid DLC in other forms. COD has many different COD games. And they all sell.
Do the original COD players (and I mean original back in COD 1) still play COD one just waiting for Activision to 'add on' 'its free' content from many years ago? No, the studio moves on and remakes a new version of the game. I just call it paid DLC here because we're on a live service model. But Id happily pay for a Sea of Thieves 2 if thats what it takes..
Are we still on the old Xbox and need to support that?! Throw that stuff out.. Its time to move on.
