Recover launch account? Link to my original account in post

  • Hi there, I played at launch and am trying to get my account working again on PC. At the time I used the PC Microsoft Store and Xbox app to launch the game, but signing into those now with the email I'm 99% sure I would have used tells me I need to purchase the game. The Xbox app seems to have changed to Xbox Companion and that UI looks the same from what I remember, but my friends list and game library are empty. Same for the other/newer Xbox app on the MS Store which I just tried. This was also on an entirely different PC build so I'm not sure on my Windows (aka Microsoft store?) login credentials if that's messing with me a bit now.

    Is there any advice on how I can trigger a password reset request to whatever email is tied to that account name? At least this way I can confirm which email it's tied to.

  • Unlike many other games, your SoT account is not actually a SoT account, it is a Microsoft account. So go through Microsoft to try and recover it. Microsoft.com or whichever the link is for your country and start the account recovery process. If you need assistance use their support tool to contact them and explain the situation.

    Once you’ve recovered your Microsoft account you then can log into SoT. If you somehow confirm you have the correct Microsoft account and still can’t log into SoT then use the SoT support page to contact them about why your now confirmed original account can’t access it.
