if it already exists through editing a config file, why not just make it accessible to everyone, 90 fov is a terrible playing experience after getting used to high fov's on literally every other crossplay competitive game out there that i can think of. even just 100 or 105 fov would make the game drastically more enjoyable to play.
rare, with all respect, how hard is it to add a higher fov to this game?
@grog-minto many other games have lower max fov on console, like modern warfare on console vs pc, but correct me if i'm wrong, there is still crossplay between the two. why not just do that?
@ibo9109 It could be that Microsoft (the owner of Rare studio) doesn't want the Xbox to be at a disadvantage in that regard. I mean, they would probably prefer if we were playing on consoles instead of pc.
@grog-minto that's fair, good point, buuuuut aren't there seperate servers already for pc and console players? seems kinda counterintuitive to not just up and add it at this point. i just feel like rare has zero care for the rather large pvp community of this game at this point. it's really disheartening.

Definitely, but that's because they aren't their target demographic. They intend the game to be a casual pvpve game. The experience they want to offer isn't especially centred around offering deep pvp mechanics. I don't think that they will ever fully fixe hitregs for instance (put my tinfoil hat on) because it tends to help casual players more (they rely less on DG than hardcore pvp players). I'm personally at peace with that tho. That being said I could definitely be wrong about that one.
@ibo9109 Changing the FOV breaks the ToS to alter the game files. Only Steam users were ever able to do so and in order to restore the original intended settings for Sea of Thieves it has been locked down to the same as XBox and Windows.
There are no intentions to make a change to this in the future.I should mention this is at least the third post on this in the last hour and we have an official word from Rare as well on the matter.
I hope that closes the discussion @deckhands?
@sshteeve if anything it just shows that players would like to have access to a higher fov, and technically speaking its just a simple numerical change that wouldn't be allll that difficult to add minus changing broken character animations. but yeah that closes it essentially. thanks for contributing
@grog-minto hahah that tinfoil hat bit made me smile. yeah id agree the hardcore community isn't that large but trust me, we do exist and we love the game just as much as everyone else.

You're welcome.
Not that many people upvote or respond though, so I think it's less of an issue overall than you may think.
It only appeared even as a thing really on the forum post the Steam release by all accounts.Anyways I've given Rare's response, I'm off.
@sshteeve i think it is for sure an issue or want at least in the communities i am a member of. So many people cheated in 120 fov it is obviously a desired feature, but that's just my opinion which doesn't matter in the grand scheme.
either way have a good one man!
