Missing Merchant Voyage Keys - HELP!

    I’m hoping someone can give some tips on finding Captains Quarters keys for the Merchant Voyages. I’ve back into the game and love tracking down the sunken ships. But the last three times I’ve done it I never found the Captain’s Key. I did every clue yet still nothing. Help!

    (I’ve actually done 4 straight without a key. The last one had me looking for a skeleton ship that never spawned)

    I’ve read about bugs with the Merchant Lost Ship Voyages but I can’t imagine these are all bugs. I must be doing something wrong. Any advice would be appreciated.

    @hitmanoooo I've had trouble with some of these too. Look around the islands the clues lead you to really well is the only tip I could give.

    @blackbeard-lufy The clues are pretty easy to follow. I’ve followed every one along the route. Yet no key.

    I didn’t mention this, but once when I FINALLY had the key there was no sunken ship. Only the manifest floating in the water!!!!!

    @hitmanoooo I've missed the key a few times myself and wondered what I'm doing wrong, but it's there... somewhere...

    A few things I can think of:

    • climb the crowsnest. It's good to have a bird's-eye view and use the telescope to look down on the barrels or shoreline. A sure way to see that blue glint.

    • when searching island's, be sure to look underwater around the shoreline as it may not be scattered directly amongst the loot on the beach.

    • when searching floating barrels, swim underwater and look up, it's easier to spot things from there than trying to see it bobbing up and down on the waves.

    One question: on the islands are they generally around the loot or could they be anywhere on the island?

    @hitmanoooo then tend to be near the loot but sometimes under water so look there too should still be close to shore

    I think you're not alone. I tried three merchant quests yesterday and all 3 had missing keys after searching everywhere humanly possible, and 1 wreck had just the manifest floating with nothing below. There was a similar bug with this voyage type last season so I hope it's resolved soon.
