Sea of Thieves Xbox Series X

  • We are only a few months away from the next generation coming out, my question is if the game is going to have a version "improved" for users who have an Xbox Series X, I'm not saying they will do it this year or the next but what will happen when the current generation is left behind?

I just hope they dont make a SoT 2.

  • @lord-salidor Ahoy matey!

Joe has confirmed they DO have plans for Sea of Thieves for Series X... I am sure it's only a matter of time before we hear what the plans are!

If it's taking full advantage of the hardware it's gonna be pretty epic!

  • @lord-salidor

So this is to help clarify this belief or notion of an "improved" version.

There is no "improved" version of the game. The game on Xbox is the same exact game on PC. Its the same exact version of game.

The only difference is that the coding on the xbox has the menu options for graphic manipulations turned OFF and most if not all of those settings are pre-determined and capped.

This is pretty much the constant for lots of games which is why backwards compatibility has never been a real issue recently.

Backwards compatability was an issue in the past because of the actual hardware reading the disc's or games.

Example the games for Ps1 and Ps2 - The Ps2 was clearly powerful enough to run Ps1 games but couldn't because of the hardware and the discs themselves. The scanner however was not manufactured to read and decode Ps1 game discs. Which is why most of the time the only games that were backwards compatible were the ones that were released right the time the new gen came out. It was planned and they optimized the game discs to run on Ps2.

However consoles are pretty much just a title now. There are no "consoles" per say, just PC's with different labels on them. They all run off the hard-drive and are installed just like games are on PC.

So there is no "improved" version of the game. There is never an "improved" version of a game. Its just settings that are already in the game being turned up.

What you want to ask is "will we have access to the higher settings already available in the game".

Hope this helps, if you already knew all this and I just wrote a wall of text for nothing well then.......POCKET SAND!

Im curious how long we can play SoT on the Xbox One! There will be some point in the Future where’s the Game to big for the xb1 Memory! Look at GTA Online, they released it for Xbox360/PS3 but stopped support a few years later because it was to big for the old generation:)

  • @king-deka they started making gta5 and twords the end of production the were told about next gen. They basically had to recreate the entire game for xbox 1 and ps4. That's why they had cut support.

As for sea, im not sure how people can play on a launch xbox. Especially if you use wifi. I have the 1s with land connection and sometimes melee can start rubber banding. I dont think it will be "optimized" and i dont think theyre looking to exclude anyone from the player pool. But it will run better. Sea will slowly add more content. The older xboxs will run it more and more slowly every month they update. Tis the way of technology.

To be 100% honest "optimized" is a nice way of saying "dont expect it to run on older hardware."

  • @king-deka

This game will continue to be supported on the Xbox one for many years to come yet.
And as a result of that, it will never grow much bigger than it is now as the Xbox won't cope with it.
And as every player will always have the same access to content, that pretty much means the room to grow is very limited.

Time for them to start work on a new game.

  • no one should buy and play gta online on series x ,its so sad we dont get a gta 6...gta 5 is 7 years old... i want a new story and a new city/map ^^

Hey bro and that’s my Problem my biggest concern! I want that the game is running for many many years, but I want that the game is growing getting bigger, more seas, more monsters maybe more ships on a server some day! And as of that Rare need solutions for that problem, so let’s think of the Future someday Rare says „Sea of thieves is to big for the XB1!“ what can we do?:

-In 2-3 Years only a few people will play on the xb1 compared to the Series X/S, PC/Steam and Xcloud! For this people nothing changes rare can roll big and great updates without any hardware issues no limit!

-They can cut support for XB1 completely (you can’t play this game anymore on xb1)

-They can stop updating SoT someday and you’re stuck forever on Version x.x but you can play but not the newest features (like gta online on ps3/x360)

-They add an feature that you can stream SoT from the xcloud on the xb1 so you can play like before, I think that’s the best solution and the game can grow without issues!

    Thoughts?

  • @king-deka

It will be interesting to see what happens. So far we have only heard news that sea of thieves will support series X enhancements.
But people will still be on the Xbox one/s/X for a good few years yet and existing games will have to continue to support that.
Only new games coming out after the X/S launch in November will have the option to be next generation games capable only from what I have read about it all so far, meaning the older consoles won't play those titles.
Sea of thieves doesn't fall into that bracket. So I think this game has expanded about as far as it currently can in terms of world size.
We will have to wait until Rare and Xbox release more news on all of this as they haven't done so much yet.

  • Yall know after this year xbox will only be manufacturing xbox series s, series x, and the 1s right?

  • @naynayso19 id be surprised if they continue with the 1s past December. is the series s is priced right it will completely remove the need for the 1s

  • @naynayso19

Yes. But that doesn't mean they will stop support for games on those consoles anytime soon.
Whatever you might hope for the future of this game, you need remember that it started off as an Xbox game for that generation using the now outdated unreal engine. And will be supported on that console for years to come, and will always be held back by today's consoles limitations.
It can't grow much more because of that. And that's why for a year + we have been dragging this endless flame heart saga out in the same world space.

  • @musicmee
All I want is higher than 60fps so it is better than my laptop, if it is higher I will no doubt buy an Xbox series x 👍

  • I'm just eager to find out what may come! 😊

You can still play Minecraft on the original iPad 1, just like you could when it first came out on mobile. It isn’t an old version, either. All the updates.

I’m not sure why GTA would drop support due to memory. Games now use level streaming, where the area around you is loaded dynamically. The Devil’s Roar is not loaded when you are in the Shores of Plenty. Maybe they increased the level of detail and couldn’t keep a wide enough area loaded. Given that we mostly have water, rocks, and dirt, I wouldn’t worry about it.
