Lots of times I am roaming around the world for over 45minutes and not encountering anyone. I had sessions I boated over the entire world and dindt see any ship at all.
It makes the game boring. As there are over 300.000 people playing this game and you're not encountering players. Maybe of the fact there are only 6 ships per server ? Sorry but its quite dank as you see the trailer on steam with 5 ships next to each other, like this is a normal thing. its super rare to encounter.
@masterpost The limitation of 6 ships / 24 players per server is a hardware one with Microsoft’s Azure servers (which are generic and run everything from their gaming division to corporate data services and servers.
Perhaps you can convince them to purchase some Amazon gaming specifics servers or something comparable to install across the globe but I doubt it.
The game doesn't seem to want to make it easy to cultivate a shared experience. Few days ago I helped a group of new players learn the mechanics.
We escaped a kraken, found their bounty, and killed a skeletal galleon, and I showed them where to turn things in and how to fish.
The vast majority of the rest of the time I see people shooting unprovoked, not even trying to get or do anything, ships in the distance just staying far away, no doubt wary of such players, or just endless emptiness.
Hell these past few days I just do the reaper's chest and bounty and even skull forts for the most part uninterrupted solo. Though I'll see a reaper emissary on the map at times, they tend to be doing their own thing as well.
The only times I've ever had people take my stuff was when I was on tall tales, so what's even the point?
The point is that you're playing on 1 of the 200 currently active sessions. You're just lucky people dont come at you, steal all ur resources with a storage chest. spawn killing you and sinking your ship. In my opinion this is the one and only most thing to do right now in the game. As once u done a voyage of a reputation once, u seen it all.
