Notice a lot of it going on lately

  • I have noticed it a lot lately, players just sitting at outpost waiting for players to come and sell their treasure. Maybe it's just me, but I think it a weak move. I mean just waiting there until someone comes in to unload, and you attack them, because your to lazy to go do the work yourself?? It happened to me last night I saw a mermaid when I pulled up and didn't see any one. So I figured it glitched,it has done it before. Well soon going to sell players came out and killed me and 3 stood on the boat and kept killing me until all was sold. I know it is a pirate game, but at least get me out at sea. Don't hide like a camper And ambush someone because you don't want to do it for yourself And 4 on one is FAR unfair. Just wondering if anyone else has seen it happening

  • It's not a very time effective way to progress in the game.

However there has been times where I have finished a long voyage, scuttled the ship to make sure everything as been sold. Then browse the shops for ten minutes. Occasionally a ship has pulled up and I've had a little entertaining skirmish.

To the other crew it may look like I'm camping, but I'm really not. Just playing the game how I feel at that moment in time.

  • Yeah having your loot taken is fustrating indeed. The unfairness of this fight is however one of your own choosing.
Might I suggest joining a nice group of 3 other pirates to combat this?
I feel it is best to find strenght in numbers as it gives you an advantage. The Choises are many, you can join a discord or find a group trough groupfinder. I'd say steer clear of matchmaking as it's completely random what type of group you'll get.

As for outpost camping. Are you sure they were camping? Often people will see you coming and scuttle the ship and wait for you. This is easily spotted by a ship being at the outpost and suddenly dissapearing (if you see this steer clear and choose another outpost).
I've had it happen several times where we were all about to call it a night and suddenly a sloop rolls up dispite us already being there with a galleon (not really hard to spot right?). They lose all their loot (we're pirates, if they just hand it over why should we refuse it?) and yell at us for taking it.

  • I think it the 4 on 1 that really got to me the most. And as the camping maybe your right, I just keep an eye on that outpost and didn't see a ship for a while. But it is part of the game so I will bite my lip and go out tonight, and try to get to legendary again. Keep on sailing pirates

  • that def is frustrating when it happens. However....you did see a mermaid, glitched or not, you maybe should have just moved on to another outpost to be on the safe side. It was a risk that you took.

Gotta agree here. You saw one of the games built-in warning signs for other players being nearby, interpreted as a glitch, which is a huge gamble, and you lost.
Yep, that really shucks, and it's sure soured many a' nights for me and my crew, but in the end, it's on us.

The game gives us tools to read our environment, we shouldn't blame anyone but ourselves when we gamble and lose.

On your topic itself; Camping outposts is a completely fair and valid, but catastrophically time consuming, high risk/low reward way to play. If someone wants to play like that, fair play to them, but they're not playing Easy mode. Whoever approaches a Camped Outpost has all the advantages; Spawn point, vantage point, cannons, ammo, escape routes. Once the element of surprise is gone, the Campers are outta luck.

It happened to me last night I saw a mermaid when I pulled up and didn't see any one. So I figured it glitched,it has done it before.

But, surely you cannot see the insides of the buildings when you're on approach from a ship? A Camper wouldn't be silly enough to stand on the jetty mate, they'd hide inside, or lie down in a bush somewhere. That's why we have the Mermaids, that's your first red flag.

I agree with you on this, but don't forget little kids of 10 or older play this game also. I had this afternoon a sloop wich just waited for me at an outpost where I had to deliver my animals and gunpowder. And a snake takes some time when you playing solo.
So I sailed away and got back 10 minutes later and it came back again...

  • A lot of people cashing in regularly due to the ‘lowered prices’ reveal in dev video - people will scuttle to avoid conflict and because of this, some are camping outposts more often as a result of people cashing/scuttling more often.
