Pirate Appearance Generator Suggestion

  • If I'm not mistaken, what we have at the moment is called the Infinite Pirate Generator. Now don't get me wrong, it fits the game perfectly, but I am a player who somewhat cares about looks, and this appearance generator does not help at all. I've spent countless hours looking, and every time I only got to settling for an acceptable one.
I'm sure there are other people like me out there who would appreciate the addition of some sort of customizability.

It would be great if an optional filter was added to the Pirate Generator.
What I mean by this, is the player could filter for example by body size, skin colour, maybe even smaller facial features. This in itself would not change the whole thing, as we would still be using the same models and the same generator, but it would be a major help for players like me.
And since its optional, the player could just use the unfiltered version if he/she does not want to look for anything specific.

Now I know a lot of players would be pretty much unaffected by this change, but it would be great if this was taken at least into consideration...

  • I understand this.

The point I believe was so that players "adopted" a pirate they found rather than editing a pirate to beautify them or to clone captain jack sparrow. 😂

There was something written about it in how the pirates of Sea Of Thieves should have imperfections and could even be... Not lookers 😂

I am a big fan of RPG's and character customisation too and getting detailed about it to create a character that I can live with for a long time in a game means something to me too but with Sea Of Thieves, I think it's kinda cool that you have to look and eventually take one that you like enough and afterwards you discover their little imperfections (or big imperfection) as you go but you also grow really attached to your pirate with all of their imperfections... In a way, it's quite sweet when you think about it.

I hope they keep it just as it is. 😊

  • Yeah, that's true.

I do not want this level of customizability either: ''editing a pirate to beautify them or to clone captain jack sparrow''. It would indeed ruin it.

But the filter idea wouldn't have to get rid of imperfections and all the RPG's features, it would only allow to filter a bit. Personally I am never going to pick a pirate who's body is unnaturally big, but the fact that I see them every time I generate new ones is a bit frustrating...

I don't think this would ruin the RPG...
But yeah, I see your point as well.

  • @duppstall

Sometimes I find myself in a pirate crew with an "ample" pirate and I do think to myself... He's magnificent 😂

  • I really can't argue with that, they can be hella funny and cool sometimes and it does give them a personality and that my whole point, we would have to get rid of that. That's why I originally said it to be optional. Majority of the players wouldn't probably bother with filters anyways, but it would help me...

Anyways this idea probably wont ever make it into the game heh...
Even the Devs said they are not planning to change it and based on your point, I see why.

  • @duppstall

Honestly I think they have bigger fish to fry right now. Not a bad idea though. I don't personally have an issue with it. I'll be keeping my pirate the same as they have been for 8 years 😂
